Beautiful day after the fog burned off. High was 72.2 about 45 minutes ago. Currently 69.7/40.9 at 3:50 pm with almost perfectly clear skies. A very light NNW wind at 3 mph. Temp probably going for that dew point overnight.

First official snow today on Whiteface in Lake Placid. Lows in the 20s tonight.

Depends on how you define "very early" and "storm", but several of the very strong Ninos have featured big early season snowfalls: 1997, 1991, 1972. All within a week of Halloween.

This 26-27 forecast is significantly warmer than the forecast for 23-24 was especially across the Northern States. Not a surprise given how much stronger this super El Niño is than 23-24. That forecast was much too cool for what verified. Kept the same scale stopping at just +2C. We can see how much warmer the actual winter was than the forecast. Included a 2nd verification in F below as it was the warmest winter on record for the CONUS. The biggest miss that winter was the Upper Midwest and Plains which was forecast as near normal and verified +10°F. In ° F which turned out to be the warmest winter on record for the CONUS.
