It needs a chunk move. Which would take a pretty radical change in the azimuth of the N stream … I guess it could happen but it’s difficult to see how.

West Virginia is the place to retire in the winter if you like snow and want to stay in the general Mid Atlantic area man. I am seriously tossing around the idea of relocating. My place in VA used to get abused in the winter. Now the only thing getting abused is my winter weather weenie sanity.

Listen guys.... No matter what happens with the Weather, if life has taught me one thing, its how greatful I am for what I have. Maybe we get our big Winter this year, or maybe we get our big Storm this year ( or maybe neither ). But, it will happen again. What I do want to say is Happy New Year to all you Weather geeks in here. I don't keep coming back here because I have to... I do because I'm just another weather geek just like the rest of you. Thanks guys... And here's to what we all hope is a great rest of the Winter season of 2026!

A quick coating of snow is not a snow squall. NYC folks don't really know what a whiteout or snow squall actually looks like.

New Year's Day's looking like a repeat of last year's, actually the past several New Year's Days. Overcast again, though mainly dry.

Lots of dry air working in. Hope the squall line stays together. Could be an inch with that and what's behind it.
