  1. Past hour
  2. It's pretty bad now already. I could distinctly smell the smoke on the Blue Mountain where we load our water. Elevation may play a part in that, though, as it's a bit higher that the valleys below.
  3. The smoke from this event are actual wildfires caused by lightning in the past week. The peat fires you talk about are real but cannot produce this much smoke.
  4. I still see it cached to Jul 15 but saw the message its resolved.
  5. Bigger picture for 1982-83. Interesting how Jan/Feb had nearly identical anomaly patterns.
  6. GOES-East Update: NOAA says the GOES-19 Safehold condition has been resolved, and engineers are now preparing to restart the onboard instruments. The spacecraft is no longer in Safehold, but GOES-East imagery is still unavailable while instrument checks, calibration, and validation are completed. NOAA has not yet provided an estimated time for full restoration, and there has been no announcement that GOES-16 will be activated as the backup. This is still a positive step and makes a return to service more likely.
  7. The smoke isnt bad yet here but you can start smelling it.
  8. Must be those underwater volcanoes! https://climateinstitute.ca/news/fact-sheet-wildfires/
  9. Yes, it is very noticeable, and you can even see the haze at ground level
  10. So far so good here wrt smoke. But it is a bit more hazy than it was this morning
  11. Yeah Satellite imagery looks good for smoke. Afternoon Disaster averted it seems.
  12. First day at our pet sit in Lewes DE. Had to get groceries and charge the car. Smoke is thick and it smells. Looks like it will be a day in with the kitties we are watching.
  13. My eyes stung after being out in that for less than 5 minutes.
  14. To me, June 2023 seemed apocalyptic.
  15. Looks like GOES-East might be back.
  16. Time sensitive, but it's interesting to see the last plume image before GOES went down yesterday to the first one today. Much further south and doesn't seem as thick?
  17. So far only low 80s here, without smoke we’d be in the 90s. Agree that today it’s more aloft but still quite hazy.
  18. Just went for a three mile run. Honestly wasn’t too bad. Didn’t feel any different than a normal run. Though it also doesn’t feel quite as smoky as yesterday was at this moment? Also it looks like GOES-19 is back online.
  19. AQi is in the 400-500 range. This is the worst smoke I've seen around here. Strong smell as well.
  20. but is that a snap shot from a general pattern or is that a pattern post front? If the formal, then yeah I would tend to agree.
