  1. We have central ac, it's not zoned out and our house basks in full sunlight as trees are too far away to shade it. This of course benefits us in winter. And I like the inside temp chilly in summer and not too warm in winter. Plus, in summer I am frequently running a pool pump. For these reasons, summer is also costly for us.
  2. I desperately need the A.C. on all summer. I'm not comfortable in the heat at all, so my electric bill is high in the summer. I actually do much better in the cold.
  3. I received 14.13 inches of rain for July. Without looking at my records, I believe the last time I received 14 inches of rain or more, may have been back in October, 2005.
  4. Received 3.75" of rain Tuesday. 2.55" on Monday for 2 day total of 6.30 inches of rain. Have had 13.73" so far for July.
  5. Got hammered once again here in North Haledon, NJ (Eastern Passaic County) with 2.04". Rain started here about 3:30, which became heavy by 3:35 and torrential by 3:45. Lots of thunder and lightning. Highest gust was about 18 - 20 mph. All this after receiving 2.55" yesterday. As of 4:43 pm, the 2 day rainfall is 4.60".
  6. I recently lamented to my wife how thunderstorms at least in our area were becoming a rare animal. But like you said, this summer they seem to be making up for "their" recent absence. But maybe not for all.
  7. Would anyone venture to guess how eastern Morris County might be affected by storms between 4:00 - 6:00 PM? I have to travel in that area around that time.
  8. To me, June 2023 seemed apocalyptic.
  9. Hello to all. I finally decided to stop lurking here as I have for several years and decided to sign up and join in on the fun. I have learned a lot of things pertaining to Meteorology from many of the members here. I do not have any where close to the knowledge that many of you have and I will not try to pretend that I do. So I will basically lay low, except for contributing my weather observations, particularly during winter. And perhaps chiming in on memories of snowstorms from the late 1960's on. I'm 65 and the earliest memory I have of any snowstorm was the 1967 NYC Blizzard in early February and the "Lindsay Snowstorm" in 1969. I have a Vantage Pro 2 Davis Weather Station and have also kept a hand written daily weather log since 1987. And I guess time will tell whether or not I prove to be a weather/snow weenie. P.S. My maximum temperature today was 101.4 degrees, which occurred at 4:10 PM. My location is in Eastern Passaic County, New Jersey
