Will Lamar be able to go at home against the Texans? They aren't a great team but they do pressure the QB well. He needs to play imo, because Cooper Rush is a statue and mediocre overall. Not sure why the Ravens paid him so handsomely for a backup. Not a great fit for this offense. Without Lamar, along with all the injuries on defense, this team is truly dead.

Wow, 20% chance of rain and we are now up to 1.40" for the day and it is pouring. Forecasters once again got it wrong. I'll update whenever the rain ends.

The nearest PWS to me were all 79-80. Center island was warm today for whatever reason. -

If you’re close to a hydrant, I have a gate of wye, a 2” line and the hydrant wrench if you need it

It is. And there is concern it could be career ending given it's a neck issue. And at the end of the season Harbs might not be there to blame anything, lol

Brattleboro now 75/47. Best kind of summer/late summer type weather. I know it's technically autumn, but it has been do freakin hot all summer! Oh yeah, I haven't even been looking at the local NWS forecast every morning as usual. It's almost the same every day...ha.

It is indeed awesome. I wore long pants for the first time in a while during the day, totally comfortable with t-shirt. Kinda sounds funny, but to me it means it's starting to cool off enough, a little, and I have always like fall and winter the best.

I think it was 2008. I feel like I remember watching people at the Bank dropping dead of heat stroke during a Phillies game. -

Above normal temperatures will continue through tomorrow, the remainder of September. The start of October will start with arrival of the coolest air mass so far this season, but temperatures will likely quickly moderate, rising to above normal levels within a few days. The guidance and historical experience following a second half September mean temperature of 70° or above suggest that October will be warmer than normal in the New York City area. The two most recent Octobers with a cooler than normal first half like 2025 and a second half with a mean temperature of 70° or above were: 2017 (October mean temperature: 64.1° and October 2019: October mean temperature 59.9°). Imelda will approach the South Carolina coast but then turn out to sea avoiding U.S. landfall on account of Fujiwhara interaction with the stronger Humberto. The ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly was -0.1°C and the Region 3.4 anomaly was -0.5°C for the week centered around September 24. For the past six weeks, the ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly has averaged -0.12°C and the ENSO Region 3.4 anomaly has averaged -0.42°C. La Niña conditions will likely develop during mid- or late-autumn. The SOI was -16.99 today. The preliminary Arctic Oscillation (AO) was -0.298 today. Based on sensitivity analysis applied to the latest guidance, there is an implied near 100% probability that New York City will have a warmer than normal September (1991-2020 normal). September will likely finish with a mean temperature near 70.5° (1.3° above normal). Supplemental Information: The projected mean would be 2.5° above the 1981-2010 normal monthly value. -

Two out of three months finished above normal using 1981-2010 normals. Under no circumstances would you call that quite cold. -
Just remembered Gloria was 40 years ago Friday (edit: Saturday.) I got on here figuring someone would’ve brought it up, but I’m not seeing it. For someone who grew up in the 80s on the south shore near the Nassau/Suffolk border, it persists as a top 5 all time event.

lol, literally taking a class rn on deep learning and neural nets (one more paper left on GANs). There’s a lot of free code out there to use. MNIST has been my dataset of choice…aka the “hello world” of neural networks. It’s fascinating stuff, but very computationally expensive. I have no idea what AIFS uses, but I imagine it’s not trivial.

Been wanting rain for weeks - got a bit Thursday at least. Was out at Staunton area all weekend - rained all day Saturday. Great! Except weather station back home shows exactly zero. What the? Then I see this: Nice to be in that hole of zero rain west of DC. (facepalm)
