I am getting my daily weather records for today, July 1 2026. I see that Dale City hit 99 degrees. You also have dewpoints at 76 degrees. These are conditions highly representative of where I live!!!!! You are under an EXTREME HEAT WARNING for heat index values up to 112 degrees. Again, these are conditions highly representative of places like AUSTIN, TEXAS. Be extremely careful, especially if you are going to the UFC 250. It's going to become extremely hot. Stay out of the sun. GET INTO AIR CONDITIONING!!!!!!! Drink lots of water! Wear light colored, loose fitting clothes out there! 112 heat indices ARE NO FRACKING JOKE!!!! Washington is NOT supposed to be this hot!

I was worried we wouldn't have maxed temps today and struggled in the lows 90s. As with any decent event, once you start slinging warnings and changing plans, etc. you need the event to pan out or you'll look foolish. So let's just go for broke and make this one to remember.

If DCA doesn't get river winded tomorrow and Friday they could pull back to back 100s.

97 at DTW today. No record, but the hottest temp since 2019.

Ha, that wasn’t enough to flip the tables. I’m usually pretty reserved with obs, but that felt legit. Probably 40-50mph at max. Likely low to mid 40s… I think 50+ would’ve done more of these trees in our in the open. And 40-45mph here would fit with the 2-3k feet velocity scans of 55-65mph. But that was a solid downburst… whole trees swaying and bending for about 30 seconds in a whiteout. 30 seconds of mayhem.

High of 98, highest of the year for me.

Heat index topped out at 110 here in Philly today... now 91 with a tropical dew point of 76.

That wind and heat dried things out pretty well in the afternoon relatively from that early morning due of 77°

I was in Chicago during a heat wave. If you thought New York was bad oh my God. We went to Wrigley Field, and they literally turned hoses on us in the stands. Land locked and hot not good

Hey all... long time lurker, but decided to take the plunge and create an account. I live in Philadelphia, am a Psychology and History teacher for Philly public schools (just finished my 29th year)... I more or less look at the Philly forum, the NYC forum, and yours... the people in Philly do not post nearly as much as those in the NYC and New England forums do... in any event, I have learned a lot by reading your posts (Typhoon Tip, I have always found yours very informative) and hope to learn more. The weather has always interested me since I was a kid growing up in Wisconsin... between the severe weather we experienced in the spring/summer and the snowstorms we had (especially when I was a kid in the 1970's)... I think these things were the "spark" so to speak. "Anywho"... hope everyone stays cool... was 97 here today with peak HI of 110. Definitely NOT looking forward to the 105 forecasted for tomorrow, the 103 for Friday and the 101 for the 4th. The heat, the concrete... Oy, it's stifling!

I hit 100 today, the DP was 86.4 Was an insider most of the day. When your 70 not to many outdoor activities you want to do in 100 degree weather. I was looking at the record highs and a lot of them was set in 1931.
