  1. Past hour
  2. Thanks for clearing that up. The Tinicum in Philly must be where the superfund site is
  3. Still snowing solidly in south wake...but tiny flakes all night. Why can't we get under just one band! 2 solid inches or 3...but damn the wind gusts are crazy!
  4. God I can't wait to see the snow totals that way!!! Gulp
  5. Im in jacksonville and its snowing crazy hard right now, just took this like a minute or 2 ago.
  6. Gotta be VERY careful on that ice. Glaciated sleet is extremely hard and very, very slippery.
  7. Sorry dude, we are familiar with the dry slot screw job around here, but this one was particularly brutal for you folks in the Triangle. This can be a very unfulfilling hobby sometimes. On that note holy shit at that deform band setting up in eastern NC right now.
  8. I remember the Monster Truck as a kid. Carolina Crusher. Never forget. But nobody beats Grave Digger.
  9. Yep. Can't be winter anymore without a southern coastal city that averages maybe 2-3" a year get 12" as we get cold dry wind and some clouds.
  10. Did a live interview with BBC this evening. Love my job and completing interviews!
  11. I am so close to the snow but it just stays in North Carolina. Why won't you come to Virginia?!
  12. George BM. You need to brief the NWS. That is how professional your forecast scenarios are.
  13. That's because some of the warmth in the West this season is all time record level and objectively more statistically significant. The cold in the Eastern U.S. this season really isn't even close to unprecedented. That's the idea, that the warm anomalies in a warming world are simply going to outweigh the downstream/upstream cold anomalies. The West has also had some decent cold winter stretches in the last decade (2016-17, February 2019, 2022-23) but nothing as historically impressive as the warmth that's happened this season thus far out here. And in those stretches the East was generally seeing historic levels of winter warmth that outweighed it.
  14. We had a -PDO decade like this...the 1950s...it was colder, but still sucked for snowfall. We didn't get "buried" in shit patterns before...they still sucked.
  15. Whopper of a deformation band setting up from Jacksonville to Greenville in E NC right now as the low rapidly deepens with the trough going negatively tilt. Have to think 20"+ or perhaps even two feet is on the table for some.
  16. Steady pixie snow here as well. Picked up about 1/4th inch in the last two hours.
  17. There's luck involved in everything....chaos, whatever you want to call it. The pattern can be perfect and sometimes it just doesn't work out. We did have an El Nino like 2023-2024...it was 1972-1973...-PDO /strong Nino combo. It was just as awful in terms of snowfall, but not as warm.
