All Activity

This thread is pretty fucked up lol. Nothing about an issued watch or warning is complicated.

No idea. Intuitively this doesn't sound right to me. A watch is put into effect when conditions are favorable for tornadic activity to occur. If nothing happens then so what. It was a watch- warning the public of the possibility.

2026-2027 Super El Nino
TheDreamTraveler replied to Stormchaserchuck1's topic in Weather Forecasting and Discussion
The 2015-2016 winter was absurdly unremarkable except for that monster blizzard. I almost got my entire seasons worth of snow just from that one storm alone. Otherwise it barely snowed at all. -

0.10” in the bucket this evening with another shower passing through. May end up surpassing Tuesday’s total at this rate. -
2026-2027 Super El Nino
roardog replied to Stormchaserchuck1's topic in Weather Forecasting and Discussion
I think some people are just skeptical because the PDO is so outrageously negative for what is already a super Nino. I know it's still summer but this persistent very -PDO almost defies those same laws of physics and reality you talk about. -

I have heard from family who know people on the job there that some are just now getting back to work after seeing what they saw when they first arrived.

Brief shower earlier last hour, now it is pouring in Lower Macungie/ Ancient Oaks. I welcome these showers as the corn and soybeans are loving it. -
Just had a brief deluge in New Hope, Pa. It didn't last long but it was intense. We've been dodging showers all day but that one really nailed us.

You're welcome...

Occasional Thoughts on Climate Change
donsutherland1 replied to donsutherland1's topic in Climate Change
Several things: 1) Your posted chart includes Russia. It has been an above average fire season in the European Union so far. As per Copernicus: 2) France is having its worst fire season (Copernicus) in some two decades: 3) Climate change has contributed through its impact on heat/drought, which increased the vapor pressure deficit (dried the vegetation). The impact of climate change--how much more likely, how much worse, etc.--the fires would have been has not yet been assessed in the attribution studies. It's had a contribution. The extent of the contribution remains to be determined. 4) Climate change is expected to lead to an increase in extreme wildfires. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41612-024-00575-8
