For what reason ? -
Yeah 20 years of global warming after that. We realistically need a -EPO or -NAO. A lot of people don't realize, but we have yet to see our 1st N. Pacific trough since the El Nino developed! A lot of these Super Nino analogs have something like -150dm for DJFM, lack of awareness about the current pattern imo

Yes, the 4th was sweet in this area; still a lot of roof damage work being done... Can't disagree about the discussed pattern. It has been a remarkably stable setup with eastern VA, eastern PA / NJ to greater NYC area being the sweet spot. It's not like a one and done pattern for those areas, it's been multiple severe weather events every week. The nw - se flow has been locked in and as you note, blocking any significant northeast expansion of good stuff. Amazing what a modest northeast shift would have of done for our area? I have friends in eastern PA and they gone through a bunch of nail-biting events... -

Best storm of the season bada boom -
Yep. Just getting a little moderate rain again. Nothing impressive here, but at least it was a nice lightning show off in the distance.

Occasional Thoughts on Climate Change
donsutherland1 replied to donsutherland1's topic in Climate Change
Here are the temperature anomalies for the Nepal/Tibet area. If Copernicus confirms this data for August, that will raise questions about JB's maps. Perhaps, just as with the CFSv2, they have a cold bias? August 1-25, 2026: Summer (June 1-August 25): -
Weakened anyway
-
Well will the turbo ridge over oklahoma finally break down?
-
With this super el Nino we should probably expect the unexpected. Just need cold and subtropical jet to meet up one time and we could be looking at Jan 2016 or December 2009 redux
-
MQT in Negaunee broke a record today with a high of 89. Starting tomorrow, 70's for highs until Labor Day when things cool back into the upper 60's. Nice stretch of weather but dry af.
-
And looks about the same as the first one -- I'm gonna be right near the edge of it again.
-
Drove through north Edison, crazy torrential rains and lots of lightning
-
Round 2 almost here
-
Beaumont TX will get about 12 inches of fresh rain. Austin? Not so much. It's all about downsloping and hot as hell for us lol. We'll take what we can get, but you all know the old saying. Beggars can't be choosers.
-
Beaumont currently sustained around 45 gusting into 50’s. Impressive for a 60 mph land falling storm Edit: Beaumont just gusted to 58

Getting “clipped” by this in Macungie and it is pretty intense rain and wind, no hail imby. Lots of thunder but it strikes are further away. Already have 0.48” in very short period of time. . -
I've been on the edge of it here. Just a moderate shower with some 20 to 30mph gusts. It has been a nice lightning show in the north sky though. I wish this storm was just a few miles more to the west.
-
Pouting rain again. Sitting at 3/4" of an inch for the day.

Some decent winds, and possibly hail with the mid-level circulation between Mertztown and Alburtis, moving to the Southeast. -
My bad for the bad memories. I am rooting for you guys to get the hammer this season.
