  1. Past hour
  2. Who are you thinking for his replacement? Rhule? Joe Brady? Cignetti?
  3. Ya, just responding to the guy who said they didn’t update the AFD…so who knows.
  4. Steady light to moderate since about noon. More breast than windy.
  5. To date, among the emerging cases that could provide insight into Winter 2025-2026 temperatures is 2021 (ENSO, RONI, QBO, IOD, and PDO). Consistent with the lack of statistical relationship between ACE and winter temperatures/snowfall, ACE isn't considered. Solar flux is also a mismatch (suggesting perhaps a milder version of 2021-2022), but for now this is an emerging case. The evolution of the North Pacific SSTAs and continuing evolution of ENSO will be important factors. Here's the fall 2025 outlook using 2021: Fall 2025 (through October 10): Winter 2025-2026 using 2021-2022: ECMWF DJF Forecast:
  6. No rain to speak of here. 56f humidity 95% dewpoint 55f Wind NE gusting to near 40 mph.
  7. Who knows how his station is mounted.

  9. Yep. I've been telling folks here how behind we are getting on the first frost.
  10. Yeah sad to see the changes. Descriptive and knowledgeable AFDs are the best part of the NWS (or were).
  11. What? They issue AFDs like 4 times a day or used to? You hear from the NWS when it’s partly cloudy or when it’s a big deal. That is/was the value of it. I read the man updates almost daily and I bet many on here do too.

  13. Ill fix my post.... I understand its a gradient squeeze. Trust me, I do. Apologies, im about to watch many neighborhoods get exceptionally wet here, as this system doesnt necessarily deepen, but the net results worsen. If I didnt look at the surface map you posted, id describe an incredibly different situation.
  14. I was surprised at how high the water levels were in Bayside Queens, along little neck bay. Surveyed them around 4:30, and then around 7-8 during low tide. Even at low tide, the water was covering about 1/4th of the jetty along Bayside marina. Very rough waters out there, some gusts to 40 mph this evening. Just rainy and breezy away from the water, but along north Queens shoreline it’s a totally different story.
  15. Strongest wind of the day now. Couple solid house shakers.
  16. This was not overplayed along the coast. Meeting expectations at a minimum. Especially for NJ beaches. LI power outages nothing to sneeze at either.
