So all these storms started rotating? Wtf

The shear is there for rotation, the question was just whether storms would really get going after this mornings crap.

Perhaps the tor warn was auto-generated due to the heavy winds moving directly over the radar site? Some toward and some away?  I don't know if all tor warns have human approval?

Have to assume a human has to approve before a warning goes out. Otherwise too much liability for false warning.

Seahorse

Seahorse - exactly what I was thinking.  Just warned my friend in Columbia to keep an eye on it.

Now lets see if it maintains through the Metro area. I suspect it will weaken suddenly around me lol.

Warning text has 70mph winds in it.

Very southern tip of the storm just hit here.  Some strong gusts, but nothing really unusual.  The clouds to my north (towards Ashburn) look wild, though.

I'm in Reston right in the crook and can see black clouds on three sides.  Crazy.

I'm still not seeing rotation that would warrant a warning.

Rotation on St. Mary's storm looks a bit more consolidated.

My husband is in Rockville right along 270 just off of Shady Grove. He said it is getting nasty down there. I alerted him to the tornado warning.

When the TOR warned storm passed here, I lost power (for about half a second).  That's the second power loss of any kind we've had since we moved in three years ago - the only other one was during the Derecho (also for just a second).

This storm was always a part of that northern end of the bow back in WV - never really lost that feature of having a bit of spin but nothing significant.

Rockville, Potomac, North Bethesda, Aspen Hill all look

to soon be getting winds that could reach up to 70 mph.

Not to mention storm motion at near 55 mph.

Looked like a hurricane for about 4 minutes in Reston.  Rain has stopped and the sun is coming out.
