Powerball
BTW, I adjusted the dates a day earlier. It appears the winter storm will be out of here by Wednesday and it did start in the Plains yesterday.

Powerball
Hmmm...all I have right now is a crusty 1" base. It's about 1-2" here. In fact there are even some isolated patches of grass showing up. It was largely due to the sunshine these past three days, the temperatures would argue against whatever melting's taking place.. hawkeye_wx
I got a dusting of snow a few hours ago, but haven't seen a flake since. The dry air is really making it tough for the snow to move into eastern Iowa.

A-L-E-K
ya central IA getting dumped on right now. dry air is worrying me alittle for here. Don't give up yet, things are unfolding as modeled, we knew dry low level easterly flow was going to hold things off until the early morning. I think our accumulating snow falls between 6am and 3pm, so there's a long ways to go.
michsnowfreak
A note to those worried about dry air. Not that it cant become a problem, but remember a few things, model qpf fields and such account for this. And if you see virga, dont think its wasted qpf, because its likely not. We need more Iowa posters! The latest radar makes it look like it's very close to snowing here, so just stepped out to check. No snow yet, and you can still see the moon dimly lit through the clouds. Yeah but it could be good light snow like 3/4SM....moderate is just 1/2sm and anything lower is +SN is the way we code the intensity....figured you probably knew this but if not by the book that is how we code the intensity. turtlehurricane
Snowing in badgerblizzard land. Well, it's 71 °F in my current location, despite being the middle of the night Madison appears to be getting it pretty good right now, a very small area of heavier snow has parked over the area based on radar. .07" liquid and counting, which must be a good amount with a temp of 26 °F. FWIW my friend says they've gotten 2" since morning.

cyclone77
Of course as soon as I posted the above, I look out and notice it snowing MUCH harder. Actually some pretty nice size flakes too. I'd call it solid moderate snowfall. The radar shows the good snow band we have over us as being very small though, so it won't last too long. Still nice to see though.
