Of note 54 years ago today back in 1972 Chester County was experiencing a rare early season snow event that left as much as 3.0" of snow at Morgantown. After a little rain yesterday with between 0.1" to 0.3" falling, today our high temperatures were reached at midnight. Daytime temperatures today will remain in the upper 40's to Low 50's which is about 10 to 15 degrees below normal daytime highs for mid-October. The NWS has issued a freeze warning for tonight with temperatures near freezing or below in valley locations to just above freezing on the ridge tops.  Temperatures will run 4 to 8 degrees below normal through Monday before we return to near normal by Tuesday, but by Saturday we drop to about 4 degrees below normal. We look to stay dry through Saturday according to the ChescoWx model.

Low of 32 here in Marysville.

First frost & first freeze this season are now in the books for me.

The great Blizz has awakened with the onset of colder weather. Snow maps will probably be coming within the next month. What's your outlook, prediction on this coming winter?

Week ahead is basically a chamber of commerce autumn spectacular.

Seeing a great forecast for the week, I went down to work Saturday noon to wash our truck. Much to my chagrin, the camera guy was there installing new cameras in all the trucks, so I couldn't do it. A waste of time and expensive gas, but the real irritation is that we now have driver facing cameras to deal with. Before, we just had outward facing ones.

I (along with everyone else) am not happy with it. We'll see how it works out.

happy fall..yall.

37 noted on digi car thermo w/ spotty frost noted on travel to work this am.  35 was lowest seen in my normal cold spot.  decent amount of roofs and shaded lawns had frost on shaded north and west facing.  Some mesquitos likely did not make it, but id say not hard enough to wipe em out.

Just enjoying fall, while we likely have to wait a while for decent winter weather.  All good.

Lol, I’ve been around on here a little bit during the offseason!

I really don’t do outlooks or predictions of my own, but I do read the upcoming Winter thoughts of pro forecasters & respected posters from the various regional forums on this website.

The main theme with this strong El Niño appears to generally show that above normal average temperatures are likely for December & possibly average above normal throughout the Winter.

In terms of snow, there should be a greater chance of high impact coastal storms. Of course, the unknown is if we can time up some periods of at least normal seasonal cold, especially during the heart of Winter from mid January to mid February.

The hope for snow lovers is that we can time up an active subtropical jet with some periods of blocking with it being just cold enough.

The 1 historic storm & done type of Winter is on the table as well, such as 2016 or 1983.

Maybe we get lucky with extended periods of blocking, with several chances, such as 09-10 ?

Maybe it’s just too warm for much snow, such as the Winters of 97-98 or 19-20 ?

Hopefully we will have a chance of at least 1 block buster snowstorm in the heart of Winter!

Either way, I look forward to tracking it all with you guys on here again this season!

Agree with you Blizz. I believe December will be cold watch Thanksgiving weekend. January through mid February warmer than normal and the mid February though mid March normal temp with above normal precipitation. Lots of rain/snow to Rain events. And then mid February to March is our time for a huge ending. Just my opinion so we shall see what really happens.
