Not much the canadiens can honestly do on their end.

 The forests are so remote and Canada as a whole is so sparsely populated that they just don’t have the resources and manpower to do much of significance.

One of the candidates running for governor of mi is using the smoke as a platform to get votes.  He promises if he is elected he will force Canada to take action and stop the fires from  harming the lives of the people of mi.

 There are multiple multiple current representatives in the mi house and senate who are saying similar things and demanding Canada fix this problem now....

They could stop petroleum extraction of the tar sands, but Canada is just cold texas

Six Flags closed at 3 today. First time in the parks history it closed due to air quality.

Black Keys concert in Chicago also cancelled

Just a golden globe IF you can even see it. It's so thick, it just gets dark a little early like heavy overcast.

Yeah.  I remember last year or maybe the year before the sun set about 15 minutes early as it just disappeared into the smoke bank.

Outside of natural causes, the natives historically have set fires regularly to manage forests. Not just in NA, but in AUS, too, (and probably elsewhere) they stayed on top of these things. Now the forests are just full of fuel making fires so much worse. Since these fires are so close to us, and there are many small ones combined with the bigger ones over the border, these fires are all adding their smokes together, and we are getting the brunt of the surface smokes.

Winds picked up off the Lake this aftrn, and the smoke has just gotten thicker.
