Storms training over the same area, already 5" in spots on radar. Going to be a long afternoon down there. We had just shy of an inch back at home in Levittown(.9") through 2 different storms. Over 8 inches for the month after 8.4" for July. It took til the end of August but that was the best storm of the year. The flooding around here was the worst ive seen since living here. Most branches of the Neshaminy well over their banks. Almshouse rd, Bristol rd, and Mearns roads among the worst in the area. We warm to above normal highs in the mid to upper 80's by Monday lasting through Wednesday we then fall back to a bit closer to normal by the end of next week. The best chances of any rain would be later this evening and again on Wednesday into Thursday. Our warmest day looks to be Tuesday with some lower valley locations possibly touching 90 degrees. SouthernNJ Posted 42 minutes ago Share Posted 42 minutes ago According to the Mount Holly PNS, members of the public reported 6.29 inches of rain in town and 6.41 inches just to the south in adjacent Woolwich township from the series of thunderstorms during August 27th. Those numbers were easily the most from the day on the list, which is not a common occurrence here. Most of that rain fell during a 3-hour timeframe between 12 and 3 PM. The first thunderstorm, which took on some supercell characteristics, produced wind damage with trees and wires reported down near Oldmans Creek on Kings Highway close to the Gloucester/Salem county border. The road access was blocked when going down there to look things over. Additionally, somebody in town saved a hailstone from the first storm as it passed overhead, knowing that I am interested in severe weather. It is just under dime-size in diameter.
