Outflow has weakened the northern line segment, and strengthened the storms on the Eastern Shore into Central Delaware, however isolated strong winds are still possible east of Wilmington.

I did hit 90 today so being the 3rd day, officially another "heatwave".

Currently 84 and stormy looking with dp 73.

Had a severe warning here but it weakened on the doorstep, so a little wind with some thunder and lightning, and about .30" of rain so far. Total of 0.75" between yesterday and today so far, still raining a bit. 77°F at the moment, that's not hard to take!

Got/getting very little.  Dissipation is the name of the game.  It did drop the temp down to 75F and the dew down to 68F, so there's that.  Storm didn't look bad approaching, but what developed down towards Vineland looked more impressive.

This will be my last full week in the Lehigh Valley for awhile - possibly ever? I’m moving to Denver in a week and a half because it’s somewhere I’ve always wanted to live and I’m now in a position to give it a try. It gets hot out there sometimes but it’s a dry heat. “Humid” there is a DP of 60. It’s going to be quite the adjustment but I’m looking forward to living in a place with such volatile weather.

Continued warm and humid through Tuesday before we start a welcome cooling trend which by Saturday morning will see some locations with lows in the 50's with highs by the end of the week in the pleasant 70's. Best chances of any rain will be Monday night through Wednesday

I had a request to update the "heatwave" stats to something potentially more meaningful. Which is 3 or more consecutive days with daily maximum temperatures above the 90th and 95th percentile for all Chester County Stations. The below rank summary makes the absolute-vs-relative divergence concrete. Sorted by absolute rank, the biggest movers are the 2010s (11th → 4th) and 2020s (13th → 6th), both rising 7 places once heat is judged against each station's own norm — meaning recent decades have been locally extreme even though they weren't absolutely record-hot. Going the other way, the 1960s (−4) and 1990s (−5) fall under the relative lens, and the 1940s slip from 1st to 3rd. The 1930s hold firm near the top under both definitions, and the 1950s actually take the #1 spot under P90

Just hit 90F, making it the 4th day of the heat wave.  Luckily, the dew point has dropped a tad.

Hit 91 for a high today after a 72 low and it's currently 85 with the dp finally out of the mid-upper 70s and sitting at 70.

As a precip note, I only got 0.04" out of that storm that came through yesterday as most of us watched it disintegrate as it moved east, north of I-76. 

For the first week of August though, I actually have 4.42" of rain.

The mesoscale storm system that brought this morning’s clouds and rain across eastern Pennsylvania is finally beginning to fizzle out and move away. That could actually set the stage for a more active afternoon.

For the first time in several weeks, the stubborn all-day cloud cover is beginning to break, allowing some afternoon sunshine to return. If we get several hours of heating, the atmosphere could destabilize fairly quickly given the abundant moisture already in place.

That means the Lehigh Valley and eastern Pennsylvania could see thunderstorms redevelop later this afternoon and into the evening. Any stronger storms that form could produce torrential downpours, frequent lightning, strong to potentially damaging wind gusts, and localized flooding.

The big thing to watch over the next few hours is how much sunshine and heating we get behind the departing morning system. The more clearing we see, the greater the potential for stronger convection later today.

I would not be surprised to see the National Weather Service issue a Severe Thunderstorm Watch later this afternoon, especially if instability builds as expected.

Keep an eye on the sky and radar this afternoon. The morning storms may be ending, but they may only be setting the table for round two.
