 The Tornado Watch should be cancelled. Continued widespread cloud cover and persistent outflow boundaries have stabilized the atmosphere, effectively eliminating any meaningful opportunity for convective redevelopment and significantly reducing the tornado threat. simply the latest bust as Red sky has stated.  The only thing that will killl this nuisnace pattern is a tropical event or a cold front stalled with redevleoping shortwaves on the front. Cannot remeber the last time I saw this scenario.

Getting some okay rain.  Other than that, not much.  The two shelf clouds I captured were misleading.  lol.  Up to 0.42" .  No wind, minimal lightning.  It's been a few years since I've gotten a storm with some proper lightning.

Hyped severe weather underdelivers like 99% of the time in this area. Our best severe events are always like a random marginal or slight risk that over performs.

I was out doing some yard work around 3 pm and it looked like there was wild fire smoke blocking out the sun again right before the line of thunderstorms came in from the west and northwest down here in Media Delaware County.  We didn't get much here winds gusting maybe 25 mph a few elevated flashes of lighting and 0.45" of rain.  We are adding to the bucket a bit more as things have stalled out to our south and rain is running east over top currently.

Time lapse of couple shelf clouds from yesterday.  Not much happened, otherwise.  Ended up with 0.63" of rain.

Well I finished up with a whopping 0.09" while watching the training sefere slobg the PA/ND/DE border. high was 86/low 71.

KYW was talking about the waterspouts becoming landspouts down at Cape May Point. Area will be surveyed today.

Currently overcast and 71 with dp 70.

They said it's gonna be virtual.  I saw a video of when it came onshore.  It looked very weak by that point.

if you dont mind me asking what camera do you use? I was planning to get the reolink Duo 3 so I can set up my own time lapse.

Severe Storms developed and moved across our region during the
afternoon and early evening hours of Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

The National Weather Service would like to thank our county
emergency management partners for their assistance in these
surveys.

.Mount Olive and Stanhope Tornado...

Survey Summary:

Extensive tree damage was noted near the interchange of
Interstate 80 and Highway 206. The path of tree damage continued
towards Continental Drive. There was a discontinuous tree damage
path through Stanhope. The next area of damage was noted on the
southern shore of Lake Musconetcong. At residences along Koclas
Drive, tree damage was observed. Some shingles were blown off the
roof of one residence and gutter damage was noted at another
residence. The distinctive path of damage appeared to end at
Koclas Drive.

Survey Summary:

On the afternoon of July 21st, an EF-1 tornado occurred in the Lower
Berkshire Valley section of Roxbury Township, in Morris County, New
Jersey.

The tornado began on the west side of Berkshire Valley Road, between
the Morristown & Montclair-Boonton NJ Transit line and Interstate
80, uprooting several trees. The tornado continued to the northeast,
causing additional damage along Berkshire Valley Road, north of I-
80. In this area, a softwood pine tree was snapped about halfway up
along its trunk. Continuing northeast, the tornado crossed through a
neighborhood along Little Lane. Numerous trees and wires were
damaged in this area, including a large, healthy, hardwood tree
being uprooted. The combination of this tree being uprooted and the
snapped softwood tree led to the EF-1 rating with 100-110 MPH
maximum winds for this tornado.

The tornado proceeded northeast, damaging numerous additional trees
and wires as it crossed Mill Road, before dissipating. There were no
known injuries or fatalities associated with this tornado.

Survey Summary:

A EF-1 tornado touched down behind the ridgeline on Windsor Drive in
the Pine Brook section on Montville around 2:50 PM EDT. The tornado
generally tracked northeast where a path of mainly tree damage was
found. A large uprooted tree and several large branches were found
to be snapped in a couple of backyards along Hook Mountain Road.
Photos were passed on by local residents of a broken power pole
which was snapped at its base which was also lying across Hook
Mountain Road. The tornado continued onward, removing some shingles
from a house, before crossing over Hook Mountain Road and
dissipating around 2:51 PM EDT before reaching the Passaic River.

Survey Summary:

A waterspout was witnessed going on shore the beach at Cape May
point. A narrow path of tree damage was noted along Lincoln
Avenue, Yale Avenue, and near the intersection of Oxford Ave and
West Lake Drive. At least one witness saw the funnel cloud proceed
into Lake Lily, but no other damage was noted.

The National Weather Service would like to thank our Cape May

assistance in these surveys.

As an OBS, I bottomed out at 63 this morning  and it's currently a sunny 75 with dp a refreshing 58.

Plenty of low temperatures in the 50's this morning with the Warwick DEOS our usual chilly spot at 51.8 degrees. One of the best stretches of weather we have seen in quite a while is underway. Below normal temperatures ranging from the upper 70's to low 80's with lows in the 50's to near 60 degrees through the weekend and into the start of next week. Next chances of any showers looks to be Monday night.
