MANDA
Updated my final forecast for out this way at 10:00 last night to 12-18”. We’ll see how this all turns out soon enough. The 12” seems like a reasonable floor and anything over 18” would have to come from intense banding which is hard to nail down in advance. We’ll see how it plays out. Currently light snow and 31 degrees. Western edge was always going to be difficult and the NAM insane amounts were not be believed verbatim. Good luck to all!!!! 2
RKO36
Obviously every storm is different, but is there any source that tracks NWS forecasts (or any outlet's forecast) vs. what happens in reality?
allgame830
1 minute ago, snowman19 said: Where did I say NYC isn’t getting a foot? The RGEM has a foot in the city. As far as what the NAM has been selling? Throw it in the trash, it’s going to start backing down and playing catch up. There’s a reason why the NAM/SREF are getting retired this year and it’s not because it’s good. The only thing it’s good for is warm nose events and that’s it. This is a classic NAM over amp and it’s going to bust horribly IMO Dude seriously…. Step away from the board you have been mostly silent. And the sref cut back like an inch. Still snows roughly 18 inches. Either you stop trolling or I am going to silence your posts.

Calm down. I am aware accumulations and heavy snow doesnt start till later , just stating the rain is pretty serious right now and the ground will be wet and puddles are forming. Won't be easy for the snow to necessarily pile.up with ease. 1
495weatherguy
Looks increasingly likely that this storm is going to deliver amounts on LI that seemed impossible the last few years. Will this storm be the end of this winter? Or is this just an extension of winter. either way, try to enjoy the storm, as much as one can in situations like this

I think he is just trying to make the point that there is a large difference between the max NAM/SREF amounts and most everything else. The RGEM is not a trash model. Give it a chance unfold and see where this is going. Me personally I don’t think we see 24”+ amounts with this but I also believe RGEM amounts are on the low side. I definitely agree with that. I don’t see widespread 2 feet amounts but I’m sure there will be quite a few. His claim was baseless earlier. I think we land somewhere in the middle between the NAM/SREF and rest
lee59
36 degrees here with an east wind gusting to 20mph. light rain. I am expecting about 18 inches here and wind gusts at my house between 45 and 50. Anything more will be an over achiever.
SnoSki14
Every storm people panic day of. It's like clockwork. Oh it's starting as rain, oh it's too warm, oh it's too dry, amounts are too light, models are ticking east/west, it's not snowing yet, etc. And 90 percent of the time it's nonsense and means nothing. 3

Cut people some slack. Even yesterday people right here were saying snow by 8 am, despite temps being in the high 30s.

SnoSki14
One caveat is that ratios at the height of the storm could be closer to 12:1 vs 10:1 These CCB setups under intense coastals can really deliver the goods.
