Anyone else as surprised as I was at how fast this snow melted today? Obviously, the sun is extremely powerful…but it was a cold day.

Sun angle is increasing exponentially every day now

When you have high ratio snow the downside is it vaporizes very quickly.

I was not surprised, dry snow goes quick...I still have sleet piles! But bare ground already from this pathetic "snow storm"

Yep. The low water content makes it evaporate really quickly.

Lived in NE Wisconsin a few years

it could be 15 degrees and the fluff snow would "evaporate" when it was 15 degrees but sunny

The funny thing is I still enjoyed it. Last night was beautiful and reminded me of Jan 2014 and Jan 2022. But knowing the expectations and what was happening in the rest of the state cast an air of melancholy for sure. I am happy everyone else cashed in though, as I know many on this forum were extremely overdue for this kind of storm.

Yeah I have mixed emotions of yes the few inches we got were nice and the chase was fun but at the same time missing out on the big one hurts. Where I am at for the remainder of this winter onward unless it is a storm that will make up for the dry slot I have no interest in it.

What an epic storm. One literally some of our kids will be posting about in here in 20 years. I’ll put my wake county grievances aside (though everyone in the county is justified in theirs) but EVERY county in the state verified warning criteria.

I figured that had to be the case. To pick it apart further - I can see where "maybe" there's a slim chance its happened for all 100 before - but would include IP and FZRA/ZR. That being said - this has to be the first time ever for all 100 to verify WSW for all Snow. Has to be. Right?

That’s a good point- to verify simply with snow alone has to be in incredibly rare territory.

Those under 3 inches did not verify the warning. The original forecast also busted but that doesn't impact meeting criteria or not.

There wasn’t a single county that didn’t record less than 3” somewhere in the county. Warnings are county-level, so every county verified. True, not every spot verified. My 2.6” was under, and it sucked

Finally got a good Snow storm after last year’s heartbreak in CLT. I guess if it ever snows in November here it means you’re gonna get 11 inches storm in Jan or February.

I can’t wait for the next big dog snow storm in 15 years.

Sublimation of snow is the process where snow changes directly from a solid to a gas without first melting into water. This can occur under certain conditions, such as when the air is dry and sunny, allowing snow to disappear without turning into liquid water.
