Maybe valentines day 2007 but even that was probably in the 20s? I lived through that VD 2007 storm in central PA and it was dumping sleet at maybe 10-12 degrees. What happens at 750 or 800mb is irrrelevant to the surface. If there's strong southerly flow at those levels because of a primary and 700/850 lows in a bad place, those levels will warm up and it will sleet.

Yea again I'm saying near the coast it seems a very rare phenomenon to get both sustained sleet and temps below 20, usually either the upper levels aren't as warm as modeled or the surface warms more, always some exceptions. Inland is a different story.

Enjoy the snow for crying out loud. It was never going to snow forever. I think part of the fun is nowcasting vs. what was modeled and that includes tracking the sleet line! Still a great storm regardless ad it’s not often we get such cold, dry high ratio snows.
