The cold this weekend has moderated for the past several runs on GFS. Run of the mill arctic cold snap with a bitter wind chill and 30-40mph winds.

Yeah run of the mill? Extended below zero wind chills with snow and then drawn up from my basement a big dog. Of course your snow will all be melted by then right?

Probably down to 8” now. Melted just like your snow melted from the snow you didn’t get Sunday.  My post said run of the mill arctic cold snap which is what it will be if 850 temps of -18 verify like the 18z GFS has. The -30 the GFS had a few runs ago would be much higher impact and record breaking.  I also did say bitter wind chills with 30 to 40mph winds so not sure where the confusion is, we’ve had several shots of cold air recently this one will be much of the same with a bit more wind this time and hopefully some snow.

Less cold this weekend helps because the snow has increased both pre and prior to it . Now that the low digs south it snows more, allows for the core cold to go west and we snow / ice next week with no suppression.

I agree, hopefully we can also get that clipper Super Bowl night to trend north and a bit more amped.

It's been said before, but I will say it again.  Eff.. the cold.  With no January thaw this has been brutal.   A break every once in a while would be nice.  38 here to day was nice but everything was so frozen solid, Ice dams were like, "meh" , side walk out of work at 5:30 was like "let me take your knee" I have underground freezing on my side...My wife who is "never Florida" finally cracked this weekend.  It's in play for a get away.  Going to see my parents in Estero this weekend. 60's will feel good.

ORH stayed below freezing today to make it 12 days in a row. The record is 23. Don’t think we will reach that but not out of the realm. If they can get to 20, that will be 3rd all time.

Two longest stretches?

Seems the cold is backing off again. Tenor of this winter.

Poor Poor Eric the warmanista king. If you think Forky disappeared everytime until the heat comes back check the Fishes post count during cold spells. Uncanny how many Mets are like him.

Given climo, that December ‘89 stretch is still so crazy.

Working outside on the New London Thames river. I still get cold thinking about it. The wind was absolutely unrelenting as well. Then a fork truck ran over my foot and I missed the best storm of the month inside L and M hospital watching sleet and rain while a foot fell at my house
