Someone is getting 1-2 inches of ice. It’s going to keep moving until we get out 1-2 days fro the storm

Maybe the models will keep trending north and just give us rain, lol.

Lets hope. At least for the carolinas. 1.5" of Ice and then 3-5" of sleet? Thats devestating.

The sleet would be first then freezing rain. It’s a bit early to panic on freezing rain amounts. It may end up being well less than is being depicted.

For GA and midland SC folks, yeh, freaking is justified. That’s a monster CAD and we know how those hold on for dear life.

For us in NC, I really think there is enough power in that CAD that we’ll get the heavy bulk as Sleetmaggedon 2026, especially 64 north. Charlotte….wtf knows although I’d lean sleet there as well for 75-80% of it.

Yes, I would say upstate SC *may* stay just cold enough to sleet, but those SE of the mountains... This could ne pretty devestating. At this point, we either want the amped trend to continue or it needs to start backing off.

The arctic high is in place, probably CAD freezing rain.

Well, guess we are getting somewhere now....j#$sus what a mess if it verifies- going to have a lot of people stuck in their neighborhoods where I live with no power....ZR on top of IP is impossible to drive on, up or down a hill without snow tires or chains.  Having 4wd doesn't make any difference in that situation

Considering there would be QPF equivalent of frozen precip of at least 1” would that not help hold surface temps below freezing in the areas that show the CAD eroding?

Said differently, do the models take into account snow, ZR, IP on the ground when modeling 2M temps?

I would think there would be an insulating factor here…
