My excitement is building. Pulse thunderstorm season is one of my favorite times of year. Hope this wedge doesn’t last too long and we get to see some fireworks over the next few days.

Agreed. The nature of pulse thunderstorms is there will be winners and losers so some of us may need to wait until the weekend/next week to get significant rainfall

I’m still rain weary after Helene. Hate that I used to enjoy the rain so much but ever since the storm I’ve just always hated downpours and have to keep an eye on the yard, the way the water is flowing, etc.  I’ll definitely take the rain but just in calm, non-intense varieties.

I hear you brother. I think many of us still have flashbacks. I was down by the lake last night and couldn’t help but think how ironic it was to see it at record low levels. It immediately reminded me of that day and what I saw on the opposite end of the spectrum.

I definitely get the PTSD. Shoot sometime I still wake up at 3:30 on the dot because I can remember all hell breaking loose here. The wind, the rain, trees falling all around.  Such am eerie freaking feeling and it was just dead silence besides the storm just raging.  But those conditions came from weather conditions that are not common and a hurricane that took a perfect path and perfect speed to do that damage.  Shoot the whole week was crazy. I remember @Tyler Penland filming a tornado up in Blowing Rock! How crazy! Anyways we will get rain and the storms are coming. This is nothing knew and nothing out of the ordinary.  Enjoy mother nature's beauty.

Nope, storms vaporized as soon as they got close, then reformed. Can't make this shit up. Sunny and 92 all afternoon. I swear there's some sort of weird atmospheric thing by me that kills t storms.

I know it is not the Helne in the Mountains severity

But I lived in the Triangle during Fran-and it took me a LOT of years to not freak out when we had strong wing gusts

I know exactly what you mean!  Grew up in PTC right near FFC and recently moved back, settling in western Fayetteville.  I remember watching storms on TWC radar (because we had no internet back then, local on the 8s was it!) and it would split, or evaporate and reform on the other side.  I called it the "Fayette wedge".

At least we got to go to the pool yesterday for the first day it was open, and I got really lucky leaving work early enough to come down the connector before any rain fell.

The ATL flooding was from a small cell that really only affected half the metro. Very small cell but extreme rates where it sat

Drought worsened significantly in NC with virtually zero rain over last two weeks. Hopefully this is the peak

I work in an office right in downtown ATL and that cell basically sat over us for an hour just dumping rain. Flash flood warning said rates of 1-2" per 30 mins. I left the office in the middle of the storm to get to baseball practice and came about 500 feet from getting on 75/85 right where it had flooded when I realized traffic on the Connector had stopped completely, bailed, and took side streets out. I was one of the only cars on the Connector northbound once I got back on because everyone else was stuck. Just a crazy freak small cell. Baseball fields are 10 miles north, only a few rumbles of thunder and about 5 mins of rain.
