Central PA Winter 25/26 Discussion and Obs

I like seeing the warmer temperatures in southeast PA, such as the 40 at Philly International at the 9 pm. Ob.

The temperature contrast with colder temps in NW PA could help us in the LSV with the better precipitation rates eventually.

Yes, unlike last event, this snow has absolutely no sound which which adds to the tranquility of the event. And as most of us know, if you can hear the snow you're playing with thermal fuckery.

Just drove home from Hershey to Linglestown. Roads mostly wet but starting to get snow-covered as we got closer to home. Beautiful tree stickage and having fresh snow just adds so much to the holiday decorations , enjoy all!

Since congratulations on 2 months of sobriety.

I was in a bad place back in 1994. I was 29 but making good decisions in life. I needed to make a change. After a lot of counseling and a ton of support I walked away from alcohol on 7/17/1994. There are times when it's not easy but I have so many blessings in my life and I don't want to lose it for a bottle. Wishing you the best each and every day.

My road has caved but I'm still at 32.4

So I see that CTP finally hoisted an advisory for Schuylkill County and upped accumulations to 2-4 inches.

Below is the original forecast which, unless it were to stop snowing now, has already busted.

Tonight

Snow showers, mainly before 3am. Low around 18. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Beautiful evening out there. Light snow currently falling and right around 1 inch so far in my area of the Poconos. I see Binghamton Nws pulled the trigger on an advisory here, I wasn't expecting that. They're calling for 2 to 5 inches by morning. This turned into a nice little event once again. fyi, it's been all snow since onset here in Akron.  only started snowing w/ purpos about 10pm, but now approaching an 1" and hoping hi res mods verify.  Headed to bed, but I'll be up frequently....much like any other night except tonight i have something to enjoy while not sleeping.

At midnight, here in Carlisle, it continues to snow lightly, but steadily.  The temperature has hung out around 32.7 for most of the evening which is preventing the paved street and sidewalks from completely covering over.  As of midnight I have recorded 0.5" of new snowfall.  This also records a storm total of 0.5".  I melted down the snowfall so far and have measured 0.08" of liquid as of midnight.  The temp has dropped 0.5 degrees in the past 30 minutes and is now standing at 32.2 degrees F.

Almost every model has given me between 1.5" and 2.0" of snowfall.  The canadian has been the only model that has pushed the 2+" line off to my northwest.  So, it will be interesting to see how things pan out in the morning.  Getting a solid 2" would be great, but it's hard to complain over just 1.5" when this has been modeled for me for many runs now.

Currently having the best rates & flake size of the event. Eyeballing around 1 inch as of 12:45 am in Marysville.

I’m a little over 1.5” here with still some more to go. Been pretty steady since this started around 4pm this afternoon but it’s largely been the pixie dust variety so I don’t really have as much to show as I probably could with it essentially snowing for the last 8-9 hours. Temps have started to fall steadily in the last hour or so, down to 24ºF from about 27ºF at midnight.

Just had our best rates here also with some big old fatty flakes over the last forty five minutes to an hour.

I can’t resist sharing this lol, 1pm Christmas Day GFS vs Euro 0z run tonight. Literally a 50 degree difference in temps.

Conditions are changing out here pretty rapidly. The temperature has dropped several degrees over the last twenty minutes, and a fog has also rolled in with the colder temperatures along with improved rates and flake quality

Varying rates at this point, but there are some slick spots starting to show up in the roads out here in fairview township.
