I live right near there!

I was right on the edge just NW of the cell's path and still managed almost 3 inches of rain.

Found a local Wunderground site in Bayside that reported 7.65” in one hour. I am not familiar with this site. But the radar can underestimate the actual rainfall in these extreme events. Home weather stations can struggle to be accurate with so much rain falling in a short time. But it seems like from the flood reports over the hood of the car that it’s plausible 5.00”+fell in around an hour.

Yesterday, Bridgeport recorded 0.20" of rain, while Islip measured 2.93". This marks the lowest rainfall on record at Bridgeport on a day when Islip received 2.50" or more. The previous record was set on August 19, 1990, when Islip recorded 3.83" and Bridgeport received 0.39".

Received .60" here.  Better than nothing and better than excessive totals and flooding.  With the cooler weather the .60" will last a few days and I won't have to water the garden or lawn.  Enough is a good as a feast I guess.

Windows open for the first time in a LONG time.  Love the cooler temps.

CoCoRaHs reports...  you see the 4"s and 5"s  as a sampler.  When you compare the max rainfly axis... I think the EPS had the best idea from the start and all ensembles had the max GENERAL 2-3" rainfall northwest edge of our NYC forum.

HOWEVER:  the value of the MAX potential SPC HREF rainfall posted on p1, was possible in our area. I've not seen max rainfalls but suspect iso 6".

Therefore the thread had added value using the SPC HREF MAX rainfall...its never perfect but having the max occur in the center of the NYC subforum is no surprise... at least we were bordered N and S edges by the modeling and knowing it's imperfect permits leeway considerations.

I always keep in mind lack of modeling perfection and leave options open.

Click graphics for clarity.  I chopped off the time covered but trust it's 7/30-31.
