The 30.3" snowstorm (10 sigma) is a rarer event than the back-to-back 102° days in June (6.7 sigma).

Wow that snowstorm sounds even more rare than Sandy, Don!

Something weird about today, it's very dark here and yet the temperatures have not fallen.  The clouds are pretty thick and yet it's still staying close to 100 here

98 will do it for me. I stayed around 97 to 98 most of the afternoon, but looking at the temp graph from the station it looks like it's starting to curve downward now that were passed the peak insolation.

I've been stuck there for a few hours. Yesterday I had continued to rise and was also a couple degrees ahead of my current temp.

I don't know if we'll get much higher.

and this is why I hate clouds, but today the heat couldn't be denied, every time there were 10 consecutive minutes of sunshine it went to 102 or even a little higher.

it might have more to do with those pesky clouds though.  It's so dark here that I turned on my lights to see the temperature still near 100 here.

I got mostly clear skies here, not that many puffy clouds really

Sea breeze beginning its march north. The sea breeze held off longer than it did yesterday. Imagine today's winds with yesterdays temps all of LI would have been solidly above 100

I am on the beach and it’s still hot. Not much of a sea breeze

that's right, everyone should think twice before they downplay the next heat wave

We were only downplaying the widespread mid to upper 100s the Euro was showing for awhile there last week.

I thought it was also fair to downplay the Monday highs of mid 100s the Euro had that didn't come close to materializing. It was all on its own with those highs.

The storm complex for Sunday was definitely downplayed, that thing turned a day that some models showed in the upper 90s into a day that only touched 90 at like 6PM after spending most of the day in 70s and some 80s.

But no serious person expected to escape the mega ridge without some epic heat. There was no way out.

Sitting outside the other night the breeze made it feel somewhat comfortable even though it was still 94 degrees.  It made me wonder how unbearable life must've been before a/c, fans or even proper insulation in buildings 100 years ago.

Anyway, its 93 and our a/c at work finally started working again.
