i know this is late, but i was busy Saturday and Sunday. That storm Friday night was worse then any remanents from any hurricane that we ever had.  I have never been nervous about the big trees in my yard as i was Friday, early Saturday. Its sounded like a Phucking freight train. The FD started going on calls around 1030, never stopped answering alarms until about 4am, The Enola area had so many trees and wires down more then i can ever remember in all my years as a fireman. So many transformer were blowing it sounded like a war zone and we were being bombed.

We had our 2nd straight morning with low temperatures in the 40's across much of the area. This is the first time since 2017 that we have seen back-to-back days with lows that chilly. Today will be our 15th below normal day over the last 16 days. The good news is we will finally warm back to normal tomorrow and then we will move several degrees above normal by Wednesday. The warmest day of the week should be Thursday with highs in the mid 80's across most of the Western Philly burbs. The Philly heat island should see their 1st 90+ day this week. Our next shower chances look to be by Friday PM into Saturday.

Crazy - I never heard a thing nor did I see so much as a twig down around here.

Part of a tree is on the roof of friend's garage out near Linglestown. It was wild - the city itself didn't see much issue this time with the wind somehow.

Hello summer thread.  I finished May with 9.7" of rainfall, good for the 4th wettest month I've ever recorded.  Also tied my record for most days in a month with measurable precip, at 21.

Looks like MDT actually ended up two-tenths of a degree below average for May.  Bradford hit 28 last night, only three off the national low of 25.  Smoke should make for some pretty skies but shouldn't affect our surface air quality, as it looks to stay mostly aloft.

Very impressive cold this morning, including a record low of 28F at Bradford. I'm speculating on my X account as to whether these Canadian wildfires could be contributing to a volcanic-type winter scenario. AI suggests "natural" wildfires should have a net warming effect, but that begs the question as to whether these fires truly are natural.

I seen Pennlive  did a piece on the rain in May, it rained 25 out of the 31 days in Harrisburg.

It's raining, it's pouring (In May)

If you live in central and eastern Pennsylvania, you likely noticed the heavy rain in May. Harrisburg set a record with 10.02 inches of rainfall, more than double the monthly average of 3.83 inches, surpassing the previous record of 9.71 inches from 1989. Rain fell on 25 of the 31 days, with only three dry periods. This consistent rain kept temperatures cooler, with an average high of 71.5 degrees, slightly below the norm. Harrisburg wasn't alone in facing a wet month that disrupted many outdoor events.

Our first 2 days of June have featured temperatures almost 10 degrees below normal levels for the start of June. The good news is this should turn around starting today with temperatures reaching 80 degrees in some of the lower elevation spots across the area. By tomorrow through the rest of the work week we should all see temperatures in the low to mid 80's. Sunny skies most of the week before rain chances increase by Friday night into Saturday. We clear up but turn a bit cooler by Sunday.

Below is the June Actual National Weather Service Average June Average Raw Data Temperature vs. NOAA/NCEI Altered Temperature Data. Of note without the altered data June's here in Chester County have a slightly cooler trend line. After applying the adjustments we return to a warming trend.
