More doom and gloom on the horizon.

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...
-- Changed Discussion --

A similar pattern to what we had this past week will develop again by Wednesday, with another round of cooler and damp weather. Models highlight another phasing/amplifying upper trough developing over eastern Canada and the Great Lakes, and digging southeastward into the Ohio Valley and the Mid Atlantic region for the mid to late week. So, it appears our relatively cool and damp pattern will continue into the end of May, with no signs of true summerlike weather on the horizon through the beginning of meteorological summer on June 1.

Second coldest Memorial Day morning I can remember.

40.3 degrees.

I remember back in the early 90's we went camping up in Sullivan County Memorial weekend. We left our place on Friday with temps around 90. A cold front came through on Saturday. We weren't prepared for that cold front. We had the summer clothes for camping. Temps only made it in to the low 60's Saturday. We had to go to yard sales to get warmer clothes. Then the water hose  to our popup camper froze Saturday night. I think the temp. got down to 28 at Almost Heaven Campground where we were staying at. Thats one camping trip i'd like to forget with that cold outcome.

I would take this Memorial Day weekend weather every year.

Perfection to me.

If I had a pool and wanted to go swimming, I'd want it warmer, but for regular picnic purposes, this IS perfection.

And what a chamber of commerce sky it is today with the puffy, fair weather clouds.

There were teenagers at my neighbors pavilion who decided to get in the creek yesterday afternoon. I could see and hear them shivering from the cold water. Needless to say in about 5 min they got out of the water. So I say it's too cold for swimming yet.

I need 80 minimum air temp to get in the water.

I have fond memories of growing up on the river, including a few chilly Memorial Day swims. My first camper, a 20-foot Shasta, had a wonderful radiant heater. Later, I upgraded to a 30-foot Holiday Rambler, and that's when camping became truly enjoyable.

Low of 51. Cloudy day and then tomorrow the rain cometh.

But it looks like less of a washout this week than expected. A day and half of gloom then a gorgeous weekend and summer night appear in full middle of next week.

Today will feature our 9th consecutive cooler than normal day. Clouds will be on the increase as our next rain event approaches late tonight and lasts through the day tomorrow. Tomorrow will also be an unseasonably chilly day with highs again remaining in the 50's with the exception of near 60 in some lower elevation spots. We could see another 0.5" to 1.0" of rain as we continue to now move into a surplus position regarding rainfall. Thursday through Saturday while not a wash out by any means could still have some showers before we dry out by Saturday PM into Sunday.

My ten day forecast went from Wednesday being the only shitty day of the week to every day this week being the shitty day. Doesn't show sunshine until Sunday.

Yup. Snedeker on WNEP showed a coastal low riding up on Saturday that would wash out most of the weekend. The NWS on the other hand shows some showers on Saturday and a decent Sunday.
