Nice. You guys are lucky because I'm going to have to wait another several hours at least with the way the precip is aligned ne to sw. It's going to be painful having to sit here and watching the temp slowly creep up while you guys have flakes flying.

The nam was especially warm here today, showing temps getting into the mid 40s, same with atlanta, but it looks like it was too slow getting the clouds/moisture in here. It looks impossible for that to verify in in the western half based on the radar and pretty unlikely further east as well. At the least there will be a thick cloud cover it looks like and highs probably will only manage the mid to upper 30s from north to south. Hopefully anyway because the nam had it getting so warm that it wouldn't change over till this evening here.

Currently 34 over 26

Basically in the same situation here in Loganville. Just based on the lowering and thickening cloud cover, I suspect that we will see the precip expand south and east rather than just waiting on the current returns to sag on in. Lets see where this goes over the next hour or two.

Quick question.. Foothills regional airport between morganton and lenoir is reporting heavy rain and 34... is this true or an error? Rutherfordton is reporting rain and 37....hmmm..

no im in lenoir and its cold enough for all snow the flakes are really tiny so the atmosphere is plenty cold for snow.

From Hickory and will not be leaving until 12 at the earliest. Then I get to drive from there to Raleigh tomorrow. The AWD will be put to good use this weekend :). Snow picking up here on the northeast side of Hickory.

Oh wow. Be safe. Good luck coming up Old Fort. Hopefully, the interstates won't get blocked.

A nice steady moderate to occasionally heavy snow at the moment.

Never trust the sensor at Morganton-Lenoir Apt...can't tell you the number of times it has reported light snow and 45 degrees. :axe:

The I-40 and US 19 Cooridor in Western North Carolina is really going to make out well with this storm giving how quickly this initial surge is accumulating. Waynesville to Asheville and Marion to Hickory...this whole area is filling in rather quick. Then when this baby begins to bomb later today it gets real interesting.

BTW, I'm already a good half-inch or more on the ground and snowing moderately.

I don't think it will be much long for you guys down on 74 in Rutherford County. It's all filling south and it filling in quickly in extreme NE GA (Rabun County) which in the trajectory is very good news for your area.

Like magic... All snow now. I live right to the South of Cherry Mountain chain. It is covered up with snow fall.

Sn no ra so once the banding gets heavier, it is on!

Madison, AL (5 N HSV)

32/31

+SN

Just measured 3.2" in the grass, 2.2" on the cartop. Nothing official, of course.

Have to admit I'm slightly bummed to see the back edge creeping in so quickly. I think roughly Cullman-Scottsboro-Chattanooga is the place to be through late afternoon, with 4-6" likely there.
