February 14-16 Winter Storm Part 2

Recommended Posts

Just catching up. Looks like game on. See Dupage got bumped to a warning, which I figured they would if amounts via model consensus stayed the same. Haven't read AFD's yet, but was surprised to see the Lake event aspect shutting off early tomorrow. Thought that might carry on a touch longer. Looks like another day of board following......

There's about 5"-6" already on the ground an hour east of STL - minus whatever snow was here since last week, and we haven't even hit the morning show yet! I did wake up to the sound of a plow trying to clear the front of my street - considering it's the one the firefighters and police are on, not surprised they are trying to clear it during this temporary lull in the snowfall.

As for Combes, Texas [and McAllen] - that's my stomping grounds! Grew up there and still *technically* live there. I know for a fact ice accumulating on a trash can is newsworthy. Jajaja! Tell us a tropical storm/CAT 1 hurricane is coming and we won't bat an eye. Ice on a trashcan - that's going to stick in the memory. Anyone alive on Xmas 2004 will talk about it, but Hurricane Dolly? Pft.

For those in SE MI, it's mind boggling how DTX wont issue warnings, especially when thier own graphics and grids clearly depict a high impact event(during two commutes).  Lucas county(Toledo) is often treated this way by CLE.  They definitely tread their periphery differently.    See for yourself.  Those two counties to the south have a WWA.

Was out doing photography all day yesterday on the Lake Michigan shore. This is locked and loaded for Detroit. Already got 1.1” as of 7am. Looks like tonight should bring an easy 6-10” at least. Very excited!

Will be getting that 6-9” just from tonight, if not more. That’s on top of whatever falls this morning and such. The warning is coming in a few hours.

It's nice that we'll have a solid week to really enjoy this.  Truly a dream come true around these parts considering climo and all.

we will easily see 2"+with the first wave alone. 1.7 as of 10 mins ago....I suspect we see a storm total of 10" or so by tmrw morning.

All depends where the low stalls and the pivot point/deformations band stalls that dictates who will see a foot. As of now extreme eastern counties into windsor look prime. We often see precip be thrown back a little more NW in these tracks so id like where i sit at dtw, pontiac, and my crib. Bummed im gonna miss it, but yall enjoy. Hooefully it'll be well worth the wait.

Do you all think that batch of snow is central Illinois will hold together as it heads northeast??  would be another bonus inch for much of us if it does.  Plus it's our second course to our 3 course meal.

My wife calls this my "Super Bowl".  At least i'm not alone

The 16 and snow in houston is hard to fathom, moreso the temp. Its only 3 degrees colder at my house than houston.

WOULDN'T BE TOTALLY SURPRISED TO SEE SOME "LAKE EFFECT" SNOW
FLURRIES ALONG SOME OF THE NNW-SSE ORIENTED WATERS OR GALVESTON
BAY INTO TONIGHT. OF COURSE, DON'T HAVE EXPERIENCE FORECASTING
SUCH THINGS...BUT MAY BE INTERESTING TO SEE AS SOME OF THE HIRES

Northeast has the historic Presidents Day 1 and 2 storms (PD I and II). Maybe we can call this one PD21 for us or something.

This is going to be a fun ride. Vis already down, wind whipped snow at 1 degree, doesn’t get better then this. Let’s see if I can make a run double digits. Traveling will be impossible later tonight.
