But, there have been several years (ex. 11-12) that are similar to this year where Novembers were terribly warm and it just stayed that way through the winter. If Jan is going to be below normal with an open lake and peak winter conditions there will be lots of potential. I would take that. This shortwave, deepening the long wave trough over our region will also bring enough cold air to transition lingering rain showers Monday over to lake effect rain/snow showers Monday night and Tuesday. It will be marginally cold enough for snow, with the lake belts east and southeast of both lakes possibly receiving accumulating lake snows.
