ASOS is really good with visibility, but vis is only a proxy to snow rates.

I've definitely seen 1 1/2SM -SN that was 1"/hr because it was perfect aggregates. Those events are exceptions not the rule though.

Yeah if we're getting hooked dendrite aggregates at 25F, we can go 1 inch per hour with 1+ mile vis easily....meanwhile, I've had arctic sand with half mile vis that is struggling to do better than a half inch per hour.

Same here. Big fatties

They’re  huge aggregates.  Not really flakes at all.  Ground has whitened up.

Only time I can say ASOS matches up well with my obs is during high wind snowstorms.  That's my ground truth here. Then again ASOS are not in rural hilly terrain so they are probably representative of flat open areas well

I don't think we have any posters in Middleborough? Northeast side of town looks like it's getting hammered on radar. Little 35-40 dbz showing up there.

Just peeked outside and this is the perfect snow for ideal accumulation. In the 30 min that it’s really started, I’m eyeballing 1/4” on me deck rail.

Steady light snow as that band is working into here. I'm about halfway between Bob's and Brett's house. Not sure if it's gotten to Brett yet.

Light snow just started here.... wonder if that band to our SE has any shot of making it to us... or me especially

Temps in ACK limit. I am hoping for a great Windsexy squall tomorrow.  40 mph winds tomorrow,  too bad I didn't get a couple of inches tonight.  Ground blizzards are cool
