Record low -AO and we are still managing a Positive Departure for April at NYC.

The big story will be the muted warmth. This will be the fourth April in a row that NYC couldn't reach

85 degrees or more. This April also establishes a new low for the 2000's at 26 degrees and coldest

since 1995.

The dates I have are:

4/20/1989 -3.533

4/21/1989 -3.509

4/22/1989 -3.223

4/25/1995 -3.081

4/26/2016 -3.455 (preliminary) -- the old record for 4/26 was -2.683, which was set in 1960.

Right, only the third year. Which site do you use to get the preliminary daily data before the month is finished?

We have had 7, 70+ degree days in April.

It's been plenty warm after the 1st 10 days of cold weather.

This is so wrong...we have been well above normal after that cold few stretch at the start..you constantly seem to be downplaying 70s and 80s inApril

It's no big deal. We haven't hit a record high here since early March. Hitting 70 is easy in late April when the

average high is close to 65 degrees. Newark was only able to beat it's March high of 82 by one degree

at 83 degrees.

Not really..the big story is a dry and nice spring with generally above normal days despite cool starts

Weve had plenty of us 10-15 maxes

Yeah, but that is nothing special for April.

Monthly departures are only running close to +1.

April warmth hasn't been that impressive here since 2013.

Hes acting as if we always get summer heat in April

It's normal to get summer heat in April as the monthly highs for the 2000's have shown.

Low 80's is at the cooler range of the average 2000's April monthly highs.

Pretty easy to get highs in the 70's when the average high now is 65 degrees.

2000s are only 16 years..why does it matter...listen I have been in the landscaping business for a long time and this spring is one of the better ones. Not sure why you are beating the drum of coolness

How is just discussing the actual weather patterns considered beating the drum about anything?

Because the impression from your posts is that its been cool the last 2 months ..not to mention overrelying on indexes to forecast..70s yesterday and will notch another 80 plus today before cooldown..but not the cold week you were talkng about

LOL. I pointed out that March was among the warmest with some of the earliest 80's on record. So I am not

sure where you are pulling that fiction out of. April started out with the coldest readings since

1995 and the first two week of below normal temperatures for NYC since March 2015.

While temps have come back to more days AN since then, the blocking kept a lid on

major warmth potential for this time of year. 70's to low 80's is gorgeous weather, but it's

nothing remarkable for late April. The bigger story for March and April will turn out

to be the number of days without rain and overall lack of rain. This also makes

it great for outdoor activities.
