Don't look now but the complex that caused the flooding in OKC... is now a pretty good-looking discrete sup with a decent couplet near Seminole.

so this turned into a supercell again after turning into junk?  This is truly an unusual severe weather day!

Captured this guy, a likely significant tornado, just west of Wichita. (The photos here show the tornado weakening, especially the last two) I believe it touched down near Mount Hope at or shortly before 5:00 p.m. The series of photos below begin at about 5:10 p.m. (just before the debris filled tornado crossed US-50), to 5:13 and 5:15 p.m. as the tornado rather quickly dissipated.

I'm working on getting some HD video footage up. It's still processing. Also have a few telephoto shots of when the storm was wedging out early on. This was quite a storm to chase, especially with a fairly vibrant rainbow visible on the horizon for most of the tornado's life cycle.

I'm posting this from my phone, so hopefully nothing goofy happens with the photos.

There have been 144 tornado warnings issued today, according to NWS GIS/Warning Polygons   http://www.nws.noaa.gov/regsci/gis/today.html

note: this number keeps going up every hour.

I think that's more tornado warnings than were issued on 4/14/2012

yep if 144 is right. 139 April 14 2012. http://www.ustornadoes.com/2013/04/14/map-april-14-15-2012-tornado-outbreak/

not sure it'll get to those tor numbers... 85 on the 14th.. but pretty high end even by non boring few years standards.

Great pics.

This tornado produced substantial damage in the Mount Hope area. I saw a couple of photos of a farm house completely wiped with only the basement left and several other homes severely damaged in the area. Have seen some videos of it and certainly appeared strong/violent.

Request that we maybe move tomorrow's threat to the 5/8-10 thread since that's the start of a new system's influence and we already have the 5/6 tornado outbreak to discuss in this one.

I was thinking about that and think it's a good call. Title reflects change.

Also, a raw cut of my chase on the Mount Hope-Halstead, KS tornado:

0:51 tornado comes into clear view

2:36 tornado crosses US-50

6:02 tornado is beginning to rope out
