If the cold presses to far south and very strong it squishes any storm trying to develop. Often at least. Thus you hear the somewhat infamous cold and dry statements, or as delta says the storms are put in the meat grinder.

At least it looks very cold for the Southeast next week. Step one in my book for a chance of fun later.

12z Euro holds firm with the mid-week blast...gotta love those -15 to -25 Wind Chills in the North Carolina High Country next Thursday morning... :shiver:

Wind Chills below zero spilling into the Foothills/Western Piedmont NC...

At this rate, I would be shocked to not see a wind chill watch for the mountains get issued.

North Carolina Mountains go below zero Thursday, Friday mornings, single digits next Saturday (1/10)...foothills single digits all three mornings with teens for just about the rest of North Carolina...

At least 75 percent of the state never get above freezing until at least next Sunday (1/11)

Yeah Marion we are going to be very cold with those 850 temps. It really is going to be dangerous out with the wind chills. Not sure if it will get as cold as last year but right know looks like below zero is a good bet.
