1/2" of snow in the grids for tonight. Looks like the high temp has already been reached here at 46F. Wind starting to howl. First flakes at MSP last year were Oct 18, first accumulation was Nov 4. This would be damn early.

flakes in the forecast late tonight here as well, but a better shot sat night/sunday for a small accumulation.  Temp has fallen but seemed to level out at 49 this morning with nnw wind.  50% or better leaf drop up on ridge here.

It was in the low 80s here last weekend. Boats and bikinis on all the lakes. One week later first frost and flakes, and people will be pulling their docks out of the water.

What a roller coaster ride we are on, taking the expected highs in the coming days, and the last five days, starting Sunday, we have 73, 82, 54, 64, 76, 66, 49, 53 and 57.

Still haven't turn on the furnace here..house sitting at 68F..basement is warm still (ground temps)...should be able to make tonite..hope for sunshine tomorrow.

Your house must really hold heat well. I've had mine on about 10x already!

Hanging out 52° right now, but with a wind chill.

37°/35° at INL - almost cold enough for snow!

38°/34° at DLH

The sun made a rare appearance so I decided to take a break  from working on my house and hike the 25 acres of property that came with it.  Still adjusting to just how remote it is here.  Haven't seen a car or person in 3 days :D

temp has fallen to 49 but the wind is relaxing... not too shabby!

Nice pics.  Looks like black bears might like to spend time roaming around through your yard as well lol.

I met a neighbor down the road a few days ago that warned me of a big blk bear that has been raiding his bird feeders and also a pretty brave wolf that has been coming close to his house at times and doesn't shoo off easy. He found a gutted deer with it's throat torn up too. He said it was a pack of coyotes...

Down to 42 with some sprinkles starting. Forecast has snow by morning.

Yeah noticed that snow report in Waterloo also. Areas east of the Twin Cities are getting close to turning over.

Possible frost headlines coming for MKX.

...FROST POSSIBLE SATURDAY NIGHT...

UNSEASONABLY COLD AIR WILL CONTINUE TO SETTLE INTO SOUTHERN
WISCONSIN TONIGHT AND SATURDAY. TEMPERATURES TONIGHT WILL FALL
INTO THE MIDDLE 30S TO AROUND 40. CLOUDY SKIES AND BREEZY WEST
WINDS WILL PREVENT FROST FORMATION.

HOWEVER LIGHTER WINDS AND POSSIBLE CLEARING BETWEEN WEATHER
SYSTEMS COULD AFFECT SOUTHERN WISCONSIN SATURDAY NIGHT.
TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO FALL INTO THE LOW TO MID 30S SATURDAY
NIGHT AWAY FROM LAKE MICHIGAN. AT THIS TIME...THERE IS STILL SOME
UNCERTAINTY REGARDING THE AMOUNT OF CLEARING.

IF MORE CLEARING IS ANTICIPATED SATURDAY NIGHT IN FUTURE FORECAST
SHIFTS...THEN FROST FORMATION WOULD BE MORE LIKELY...AND A FROST
ADVISORY WOULD BE ISSUED.

THE AVERAGE DATE OF THE FIRST OCCURRENCE OF 32 DEGREE TEMPERATURES
OR COLDER OVER MOST OF SOUTH CENTRAL INTO SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN WELL
AWAY FROM LAKE MICHIGAN...IS DURING THE FIRST FULL WEEK OF
OCTOBER.

STAY TUNED TO THE LATEST FORECASTS CONCERNING POSSIBLE FROST FOR
SATURDAY NIGHT AND BE READY TO SAFEGUARD SENSITIVE OUTDOOR PLANTS.
