Interesting stat for this July (so far).

90 degree days

EWR: 12

LGA: 12

MCO: 11

BOS: 10

PHL: 9

NYC: 8

DCA: 8

SAV: 7

BWI: 6

ATL: 1

H5 tells the tale. Lower than normal heights in the Mid-west / Southeast with a major positive height anomaly at H5 over New England.

What causes this, is it the positioning of the Western Atlantic Ridge?  Are we subject to a more westerly flow while the Southeast gets the air coming in off the water?

81/76

High of only 93.2F!

We may barely drop below 80 with the dews this high. Tomorrows's HI's are going to be extremely high out here.

Depends on how strong the seabreeze influence is. Tonight in Long Beach wasn't as bad as last night, although I'm sure the humidity was just as bad. If it kicks in early and strong, Long Island won't be as bad as the last 4-5 days. We have to see how soon and for long the coastal areas spike up temperature wise before the south winds start. The seabreeze was 90 mins-2 hours late hitting JFK which is why they hit 100 vs. mid 90s.

Yes as seen in Iso's upper air maps the w. atlantic ridge has been positioned so far west the northeast and specifically N-MA into New England has been under very high heights  with a weakness south and in between.  Also places in the south are much further west.  Savannah is similar longitude as Pitts.  They have been under persistent onshore flow in a very wet/cloudy  pattern.

Yeah. We'll already have onshore flow as soon as the sun rises. We'll probably stay in the low 90's during the afternoon but I really want to see how high the heat index will be with these dews. With the sea breeze boundary moving in, they'll be at least in the mid 70's. The city's dews will be lower but the higher temps will make up for it.

There's no capacity for air to rise in the afternoons with the high heights and sinking air to form clouds and storms. That plus the additional heating from compressing/sinking air from the Apps makes for a hotter airmass here.

One of the warmest mins on record for LGA. It probably means LGA has a shot at 101-102 today.

This will be the best chance for Central Park to make it to a 100 as it should lag LGA by about

2 degrees. Probably 99-100 for a high at NYC.

Isn't the record high minimum 86 degrees? Which would make this morning tied with the warmest morning on record.

Yesterday's low was 83.

So far today's low is 86 but we have to wait until tonight to see if we drop below that.

1 small pop up shower or a sea breeze would ruin that.
