Looks like everything is still in line for a direct hit on LI up into CT. Preparations should be made around the yard to put things away that may cause damage and/or blow away. Make sure you have all the necessities you need to live for a few days without power. If your in coastal areas know your evacuation routes in case of flooding. OSUmetstud Posted August 26, 2011 Share Posted August 26, 2011 It seems like Irene is having the same fate as Ike...with a somewhat perpetual state of ERCs and the lowering central pressure working to not strengthen the eyewall winds, but instead, strengthen and expand the size of the wind field. OSUmetstud Posted August 26, 2011 Share Posted August 26, 2011 due to it's enormous size...Hurricane Irene has about the same surge potential as Hurricane Ike did when it made landfall near Galveston, TX. It's a 4.8 out of 6 on the scale at the moment. Adam says the ideal forward motion for surge resonance is 15-20 kt...which is about what we will have.
