  1. Heard Webster Ma with accidents on RT 16 near Douglas line. Josh said it looked like a Blizzard in Woodstock; not a flake on the ground in Eastford.
  2. Josh! Where in FL are you moving? Were you here long enough to see some of our great winters? I am hoping for a nice front-end thump with next week's set-up, but man ice could be concern for some. One Damascus guy I know lost power for 10 hours in that last deal.
  3. point has 10-18"... let the fun begin! Had to LOL, Josh (snowfreak) is in Newberry this morning and I see he brought his Detroit snow climo with him... sitting in the blue 4-6" hole.
  4. Enjoy your annual trip, Josh! I hope you do decide at some point to make the trip and explore the Keeweenaw! I plan on going to the Wawa area this Summer.
  5. Kevin in Tollands ice is the exception not the rule according to NBC 30 Met Bob Maxon, then Met Josh Cignarelli live in Tolland at 600 ft called him an excellent observer lol, wish they went up to the mastiff
  6. Haha! Actually it was a black ops mission to Detroit to steal it from Josh, who had previously stolen it from Mt. Geos.
  7. I think just to your north Josh is pouring ZR at 30 with mid 20 temps just to his north
  8. Now that the winners and losers have been ferreted out for the weekend storm (big L here), I glanced ahead. The GFS looks like Josh's dream as it depicts a clipper train from hour 150 right through the end of the run. Guess I'll once again be nickle and diming my way toward climo snowfall.
  9. I think his show ended. Everyone except the Josh’s Dad poster knows what he’s up to.
  10. Welcome aboard Josh, welcome to the nut house....................Bunch of damn old guys in here.. Nut, a lot of our past good storms have had some other form of precip for a brief period. I'll glad take a couple drops of rain, a lil sleet etc if afterwards i get 2' of white gold.
  11. Welcome Josh! And hey... guess what? You're right up the road from me. I live between Maytown and E-town! (though really just outside Maytown borough)
  12. Well welcome aboard the Snow Train Josh. Glad you like it here. Post away. Lotsa level heads w/ some fun along the way. Most of us love snow, but is "just snow". Mini meltdowns do happen on occasion, but nothing like MA forum. I'm old enough to not care about what they think of me, so I post cause I like talking bout snowstorms and know enough to be "dangerous"....lol BTW, I work in ETOWN (typing this from there). Small world.
  13. Hi Josh and welcome. I just came back myself after a 13 year hiatus (re: lived in Florida). Not much has changed since I left as to the "other forum". I live exactly one half mile from the Maryland line and I choose to post here. It is funny how a lot of us have similar stories about wives and friends thinking we are different because we enjoy weather. I have noticed that many of the people like this are between 40 and 70 so I think it has something to do with the prevalence of NOAA weather radios and news stations that focused on weather, like KYW in Philly, during the 70's and 80's. Stuff like that got a lot of people addicted...and without easy access to "the internet" back then. It somehow seemed to form this cult of weather followers who all take it out on the internet now. I am sure there were weather nuts before this but without the internet to bring them together it did not grow to the level that it has now. Thanks! I am 29, my dad(62) got me into it. Over the past couple years(just got a smartphone a month ago) I have been educating him on the online resources for weather. He is coming along...haha
  14. Welcome to our forum, Josh! Please feel free to post any time. We need more frequent conversation around here anyway. At the very least, when we get a good storm, like maybe this upcoming weekend, we usually start a separate thread for obs posting. I would encourage you to post your storm obs as we all like to keep tabs on how everyone else is doing. --Stephen Thanks, I will definitely give obs updates. I will try and post useful/educated info when I can. Mostly info from good sources, that maybe wasn't already discussed. With that said, because I want to post relevant info. I use NWS State College discussions, Horst, Bobby Martrich, Cranky, Bernie Rayno, and a couple other folks. Who do you guys trust the most and put the most weight on their thoughts?

  17. Good Morning Folks, I found this forum last year(along with the circus of a forum down in the Mid Atlantic). I used to do a pay per year weather service forum. You guys are just as good and provide more detailed info, along with a lot more of it from multiple sources. I don't really plan to post a whole lot because I don't know enough to add any really useful information. It's really refreshing to know other people like me exist, when major weather of any kind come around to our area, my wife hates me. haha. Like, thinks I am nuts that I can spend so much time staring at the radar, looking outside, other forums, cranky's blogs/tweets, NOAA, Horst's site, Bobby M's facebook videos, etc.......All I am trying to say is, I appreciate you guys and everything you post. I finally joined the forum officially because I needed to get that off my chest. Also, even though I stalk the lower forum. I will not be posting this down there. Wayyyy to hostile and they probably don't consider southern Pa the Mid Atlantic for some reason. I have a lot of respect for those of you who have the balls to post down there. Thanks -Josh S.
  18. I know that this is completely anecdotal, but it seems like specific areas of the subforum are jackpot areas for multiple winters storms for period of time. For example, several years ago, it felt like every time you turned around, Madison was getting hammered. That same feeling later occurred with Mt. Geos, then Chicago, then Detroit. I'm not about to take the time to check it statistically, but it's interesting. Who's next? STL? EDIT: Of course, that excludes the LES dudes, Josh, Will, Bo, etc. They're always buried.
  19. As a few of you said here, every 6 hours-12z, 18z, 00z, and 06z (I usually don't get the last one). Also measure between those times if the snows ends to catch the total before compaction/melting begins. I use long boards and clear half of them after measuring and leave half for total snow depth. With drifting snow, as Josh said, just take a ton of random measurements and average them. BTW, final total 5.1" here.
  20. My bet is Josh is chomping at the bit to finish that goat trail to the garage. Full sun here today and wore just a T shirt to dinner tonight.
  21. Josh, If you've never been to the Keweenaw, I'd go there. A couple more pics since the sun has come out.
  22. I feel like I will never top 07-08. Steve feels like he will never top Feb 15. Josh feels like he will never top 13-14. That may all be true, but there’s something to be said that we’ve seen these historical stretches all over the last decade. In other words, never say never. I’ll keep holding out hope for eclipsing 12ft someday.
  23. Where are you at Josh? Charlotte area right?
