  1. Wow! Those are some impressive numbers you guys are reporting so far. Still hovering around 2.25 inches for the event here IMBY in Hickory and have been in a lull all morning. Seems kind of low for the WPC's original outlook of 5-7 inches for the Hickory area. Of course, there is still a lot more potential in the next 48 hours. I love these cool May temperatures, though. I will be wishing greatly for them come July. Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk
  2. What is your location, gman. I can't see it on Tapatalk. Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk
  3. Just passed the 2-inch mark for the day here shortly before midnight. Steady moderate rainfall continues. Barely anything on radar and yet it comes down heavily. Very high low-level forcing I would venture. Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk
  4. Wow! That's a two-inch difference in only a few short miles. I don't guess we have any chance of seeing the sun until Friday, at the earliest. Cool, rainy, cloudy weather for several days. I can't complain too much for mid-May.
  5. Surprisingly, I've only gotten 0.68 inch out of this flow so far. However, as the orientation turns more SE to NW, I do expect a significant increase. I'm not complaining, though. I prefer my rainfall in sustained gentle showers rather than intense tropical downpours. Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk
  6. Here are a few more pictures from my Mt. Rogers hike on May 9:
  7. Hiked to top of Mt. Rogers, VA, today. Left the parking lot at Elk Garden at 10 AM and 31 F on the car thermometer. The wind was ripping. Once we got in the trees on the AT, it wasn't too bad, though. Beautiful clear blue sky and skiff of snow everywhere. Maybe an inch at the top. The rime ice was impressive too. We did 9.9 miles in total, according to Gaia GPS. Now that was a perfect May 9! Here are a few pics:
  8. 37 F was the low IMBY. Awesome for early May!
  9. 2.6+ inches of rain last night. A gully washer. I'm now over 8 inches of rainfall above pace on my 8-year average. Wet it is.
  10. Not quite as much rain here in Hickory (25.22 inches), but I'm still almost 6.5 inches ahead of pace on my 8-year average. The yard looks awesome, though! =)
  11. Yep, this place is dead, understandably so. Not only is the weather rather mundane, but we have an international crisis occupying most people's attention. Oh, to have a snowstorm to distract us...
  12. Still light snow. Seems like back end is approaching quickly. Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk
  13. 32.7/32 here at home. Steady light snow. Grass and elevated surfaces are white. Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk
  14. Alright, the snow has begun! A little later than predicted. Very wet, still. Let's see where we go...
  15. Yeah, the orientation of the major moisture flow on radar is almost due west to east. And...it has set up to our south.
  16. Dewpoints in the 20s for western half of NC. Surface temps are not below freezing, though, except on the highest peaks.
  17. 37.7/34 in Hickory, NC Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk
  18. Closer view of mountain counties. Just amazing the differences in only 50 miles from Asheville to Lake Toxaway: Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk
  19. Don't be such a downer, man. It's just beautiful to watch fall. Any day there are flakes in the air is a win. I have one inch for the season, but I am enjoying the beautiful snowfall outside (even though I want even get a dusting before it's over). Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk
  20. 5.36 inches since midnight here IMBY in Hickory. Just. Crazy. Still pouring outside.
  21. 4.40 inches since midnight here IMBY in Hickory. Rain cranking up again after a brief lull. Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk
