Humid today in Shenandoah National Park. Hiked Old Rag Mountain with the family. I think that's the most technically challenging hike I've ever done. There's this crazy rock scramble to get to the top, climbing over boulders, through crevasses, and hoping you don't slip in a few places. My kids did it too, with quite a bit of help. 10 miles, 2500-ft elevation gain, and the technical challenge made for an all-day affair on the trail. Glad to be back in the condo relaxing. The latest 12K NAM is quite a bit further north with the snowfall this weekend than is the GFS or ICON. Buddy is going to be in heaven, after last night's heavy snow and then this upcoming event.

Can we not have people whining by saying they are ready for spring? That's a lie, and we all know it. They would take any little flake they can get whenever they could get it, as would we all. This board exists because of the eternal hope of snowfall in our backyards. It is incredibly dead in here during the dog days of summer. There are a few exceptions, but very few people visit here because of warm weather phenomena. You're all here for the snow, so stop bittercasting by saying you wish it would just go ahead and be spring. Come on, man!

I went to bed around 11:30. I woke up at 1:30 and 3:00 to no snowfall. I woke up at 5:15 with snow on the ground. I tried to make myself go back to sleep, but it didn't work, so I logged on to AmWx and NWS GSP and started reading.

I would much rather have actual snowfall than a WSW.
