  1. I remember it well -- I drove to my parents in Calvert with 8-10 expected there and 1-2 for Germantown. They got 8 and Germantown got 7 LOL
  2. Brief heavy burst with big flakes in Germantown, 37 degrees This little clipper would have been an issue if it came through early this morning
  3. Close strike and loud rolling thunder in Germantown. Nice bow echo look in southern MD now. Happy New Year's Eve!
  4. It's funny seeing Garrett getting a severe thunderstorm warning a couple hours ago while they have winter storm warning in effect Strong looking line coming into southern MD
  5. I just looked up Feb 1899 for DC -- OMG
  6. We're visiting our daughter in Morehead City, NC from Dec. 21 to 28 so enjoy your white Christmas
  7. Makes me wonder what it would be like if western MD had 4,000 to 5,000 foot elevations. Pretty sunrise and 26 this morning. Get out them grills for tomorrow!
  8. Taking puppy out at 7 and feeling the 23 temp and high clouds made me reminisce about 22 years ago today when we had the same conditions, except we had a WSW for 5-8" area-wide for the next day which delivered. Started a string of great December 5ths!
  9. First dog walk of the month - cloudy and a cold 23. No warm temps in sight, just need a system!
  10. Do they play 49ers at Bills tomorrow night? I hope they can do it! P&C for the stadium: 4-8 inches today, 12-18 tonight, 3-5 tomorrow, 1-3 Sunday night
  11. What a great spot you have! I saw a youtube on a crazy building on Central Park with units at 1400 feet and was thinking they could have inches of snow while it's raining at street level
  12. Got a period of mod snow in Germantown, enough to whiten mulch and grass and I was under dark greens. How was it under the heavier echoes that went thru Columbia and now Silver Spring/DC?
  13. Yeah thank God it's not a month earlier with that thing moving NE. Yikes
  14. Here ya go - P&C for Trinidad, CO: This Afternoon Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 30. North northeast wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 9 to 13 inches possible. Tonight Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 25. North wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches possible. Friday Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Areas of blowing snow. High near 33. 15. Hope we get rain soon but the 6-10 day on temps is beeeeeeautiful!
  16. I've never heard of the weather phenomenon known as "DANA" (high altitude isolated depression) which has caused the devastation in eastern Spain. It's an interesting read. "DANAs are intensified versions of what's known as a "cold drop," which occurs when a mass of warm air collides with a stagnant mass of cold air at an altitude of around 29,500 feet" What is DANA?
  17. Record Halloween high for DC was 85 and the p&c is 84. Gonna be close! After some low 60s over the weekend we zoom back to 80 by midweek. Crazy Oh and @dailylurker on the lanternflies -- we have a lot and they like to hang out up in the trees. I've seen the drops falling esp in late afternoon as the sun is behind them. We have residue all over the deck. Soon it'll be getting all over our cars, etc. Thanks a lot Jinping
  18. Highs around 80 today from way north of NY, all the way to FL and out to Wisconsin. Wild
  19. (MIL paying $16,000 per year to insure small home on Marco Island). It's gotten to be too much and she is getting ready to sell. She's looking at condos. We'll see how the selling goes given the insurance costs.
  20. My wife's mom has a little house (maybe 1200 SF?) well away from the beach on Marco Island, and the HO insurance is $16,000 per year!
  21. Full overcast day on deck I hope we get the advertised days of sun starting tomorrow. And sun angle - wow yesterday I noticed that the neighbor's huge pin oak is now fully shading my butterfly garden. Couple more years and that will be summer too
  22. Appreciate the overnight rain (about 1.5 inches) but I hate seeing so much of Sept eaten up by dark, dreary days. We have 5-plus months for that starting in November
  23. Real worried about Tallahassee. The town is covered with tall pines and big oaks. I was at FSU in Nov. 1985 when Kate made landfall as a weakening cat-2 (cat-1 by the time it went thru Tally) and it was a mess with big trees down everywhere and some people without power for days/weeks. This thing looks scary
  24. This weather is getting depressing. I'm jealous seeing sun and 80s as close by as WV
  25. Sunny and about 80 for the next several days with comfortable humidity. This is why I love September! And for a bonus the damn cicadas are all dead I just hate seeing the days rapidly shorten and dread the "Darkness" that is coming (what I call Nov thru March)
