  1. I laughed when I saw this. I have a very picky eater too. She's still like that and she's EIGHTEEN. I like Mrs.J's recipe list up there -- might try to add some in to our revolving list. Unfortunately my wife does not like to cook at all, so almost all of it falls on me.
  2. Wow what a difference over just about 35 miles from me! Don't drop a match up there. Hope you cash in over the next couple days. Seeing a couple peeks of sun. Maybe it'll stir up some showers.
  3. 0.45 yesterday, and 4.75 for the month so far. Big change from a very dry May.
  4. I was just out in my driveway with an umbrella to check out how my new gutter guards are working with mod/hvy rain coming down. Right as I am looking up at the roof, a CTG lightning bolt hits right where I'm looking. The loud thundercrack was about a half second later, so maybe 500-ish feet away. I moved real quick!
  5. Wow you're not kidding! Just checked Raleigh -- rain and 60, highs tomorrow low 60s. Sheesh! Meanwhile we are basking at 76 and partly sunny in central MD. I feel for anyone that went to the Outer Banks or VA Beach this week.
  6. Direct hit by the thin, heavy line of storms last night with 1.8 inches. Lots of lightning also.
  7. Got 1.25 this afternoon to go with the 1.15 from last night. Excellent! A luscious 70 degrees out.
  8. That was great! Got 1.15 out of three rounds spread a few hours apart. No big storm, but got a little bit of lightning. That was almost as much rain as the previous five weeks combined. A fresh, clean 68 degrees out.
  9. Even though it's just 73 out right now, you can just tell it's gonna be a hot one. Hoping for thunderstorms tomorrow. Speaking of "HHH" -- I noticed last summer that the hazy "H" was missing on a lot of hot days. Air seemed clearer. I remember those HHH days back in the 80s when the sky and air had that milky appearance. Yuk.
  10. They've confirmed those darn Asian Giant Hornets (aka "murder hornets") out in Washington. One bee keeper out there found thousands of her honey bees decapitated. I killed a European hornet the other day. Mean looking thing!
  11. Still raining with thunder in Germantown with clear blue sky to the west. Was pretty wild for a couple minutes with torrential rain blowing in sheets.
  12. Main line is approaching and I'm hearing lots of thunder with this one.
  13. Really pouring now, but no thunder. Darn gutter is already clogged again.
  14. I'm just NE of Germantown -- just some mod/hvy rain so far. I don't like that hooky looking part on the SW end of that cell.
  15. I told family, friends and co-workers that last Tuesday's snow might be the only one of the winter. I hope I get shamed mercilessly.
  16. Very nice! I have a couple chrysalises that will hatch in a few days. We are getting to the time when I will start finding them on the fence, house siding, etc. I am definitely doing the dill, fennel and parsley next summer.
  17. I've been thinking of adding dill, fennel and parsley to my butterfly garden for black swallowtails but haven't tried it yet. I get lots of Monarch caterpillars with the tropical milkweed, and all kinds of butterflies nectar on that stuff. Hummingbirds love it too. Have you seen any black swallowtail caterpillars on the herbs?
  18. Oh they were bad! I saw a few cars slip, especially when starting from a stop. The unplowed neighborhood streets are easy; it was that half inch of new snow on Rt. 355 that was super slick. My 19-year-old son drives home from work at Wegmans at 6:00. Glad he took the Outback! I didn't do the proper measuring and I know was compacting earlier. I have 7" on the ground now with moderate snow, 28 degrees.
  19. Wow! What area of Germantown are you? I am next to Milestone near 355 and 27, and have closer to 6 inches. Just went around the corner to pick up a pizza and the roads are BAD again. Moderate snow and 29.
  20. Best snow rates I've seen all day - almost moderate. They never did plow our cul-de-sac so anything new will accumulate there.
  21. Congrats! That is an industrious young man there. Lot of kids these days are content to just sit around. Steady light snow 2 miles NE of Germantown, with larger flakes mixing in.
  22. Mother in northern Calvert just a few miles south of Wes reports 5.5. That area looks good for some ULL later on!
  23. Just cleared the driveway and walk with my electric snowblower. A cold smoke storm, it is not! That stuff is fairly dense. Right about 5" here 2 NE Germantown, and 29 degrees.
  24. Supernovasky: where in Germantown are you? I am 2 miles NE of Germantown, near Milestone. I have 4.8", 27 degrees with light snow.
  25. If Charlottesville gets 12" they will be sitting at 24" for the winter. That's nuts! 33 and overcast.
