  1. I am so looking forward to much lower temps over the coming days. This has been a rough summer! It would be extra sweet to get 2" of rain but that is asking a lot
  2. My area is in severe drought according to the map. The thing here is my specific spot (just NE of Germantown) misses close by over and over. Like Saturday I saw dark sky and thunder first to the N and later S with nothing here. Seems like south county gets the storms over and over or they swing up thru the high elevations to my west around to Damascus/Mt Airy. The big rain days a weeks ago yielded me 0.43 and I got just 1.1 for July. It would be incredible for my area to get 2 inches from this especially if it's spread out over a couple days. But man I have to see it first I am jaded
  3. Sorry but have to see it to believe it. I'd be shocked and ecstatic to see more then a couple tenths
  4. I turned my garden sprinklers on early this morning and forgot to set a timer. Best rain in my garden all summer LOL! Two more blazing hot days to power thru and we get a big break on temps. I don't expect much rain but I'll take couple dry overcast and cool days
  5. This pic tells the story of how things go here. It happens over and over and takes a fluke to get a summer t-storm here. My only chance is tropical remains in a few days but it wouldn't surprise me if there's a sharp cutoff to my east
  6. First couple clusters fizzled and/or missed. NE MD pummeled again? Hoping for better luck later
  7. Baltimore does that in a day Already seeing some towers to the north in PA. Hope we all cash in
  8. Just over 0.4 for the best rainfall in a long time here. Hoping for more tomorrow
  9. Getting the best shower in weeks here finally. Hoping for more tomorrow and a further west track for next week's tropical system
  10. Full overcast with blazing 97 degree temp. I usually love summer but I'll be glad when this one's over
  11. We couldn't even get it done with a cold front plowing into a 100-105 degree airmass a couple weeks ago. I'm hoping that tropical system coming into the eastern Gulf takes a further west track up the coast than predicted Starting out at 78/72. Today is gonna blaze!
  12. Dadgummit I told you not to mess that up! I hope tomorrow and Saturday we all cash in on some nice storms. I'd really love to see a nighttime storm with lots of lightning. Been a minute
  13. That second one is severe warned! Stephens City better not mess this up 93/72 and sunny
  14. Hoping for a change in rain fortunes in August after 1.9 in June and 1.1 in July. Low bar Sunny and 80/70. Cicada warning in effect
  15. Wow congrats on the 2.4 inches! That's more than twice the amount I got for the month
  16. Congrats, we want amounts! Please let Ocean City MD on Labor Day weekend have a thunderstorm so I can witness just one this summer
  17. Nice breeze though Meanwhile Darnestown/Potomac area AGAIN with the pop ups. Seems like a daily thing I see the sky to my south darken and hear thunder. Lawns and gardens must be happy down there
  18. Great! Now if we can get some of the better models to agree
  19. Question: does anyone have the RainDrop app and found it to be very inaccurate? I got 0.22 in my gauge yesterday and the app had me at 0.59. I also found a couple CoCoRahs obs that were way lower than the app had for those spots. It has me at 1.78 since July 1; I have measured 1.08 Anyway, sun breaking out as we get dragged into three straight days of 95-100 degrees
  20. 0.22 from a quick thundershower for the first time in a couple weeks which puts July total just over an inch
  21. This from earlier in case anyone thinks I exaggerate the incredible desolate dryness of this craphole. This happens all summer and it will not rain here again until deep into fall
  22. 80/68 with sun and calm. Feels like a hot one today We visited Calvert yesterday and it was strange seeing green grass due to good rain there last week
  23. Very nice morning out except for the cicadas which are shrieking already. I wonder if they thrive in the new arid summer climate we have? LWX calling for showers again next week -- LOL. We barely got a drop last week with a stationary front and a cold front, and couldn't get any the week before with a strong front plowing into 103 degree air mass. We are going to OCMD end of Aug - I hope to see a thunderstorm there as it will be the only chance
