We sure are overdue! Epic dumps (some did not hit the whole region): 1979, 1983, 1987, 1993, 1996, 2000, 2003, 2010 (2), 2016 -- every 4th to 5th winter on average with the longest stretches being 7 and 6 years. Now we are at 8 years...
Went for a long walk, whew hot! We're gonna grill up some burgers later with some ice cold beers. Can't believe I was running my snow blower 7 days ago
Poor Philly stuck in the 40s
Still struggling to get out of the 20s
I just dug out the downspouts and splashguards so the big melt doesn't back up. One house behind us has huge icicles on one stretch of gutter. They must have a clog in that one
20 degrees and getting breezy. We're in a neighborhood with small yards, so lots of roofs for snow to blow off of making it look like a squall at times. Very wintry day!
If you have some good binoculars, focus on something a few hundred feet away and you get that effect you see in stadiums where it looks like its snowing much, much heavier than it actually is. Just stare at that for a while
Wow talk about perfect timing, congrats! Pretty neat to be trudging around in snow today knowing you'll be sitting under coconut palms tomorrow
Snow picking up a bit in Germantown with about 4" new (based on nearby reports)
OT but when I walked up 1st Street to Union Station in DC on Wednesday, I saw icicles more than 2 feet long hanging from an overpass above the street. Yikes when those melt and give way
Light snow and 28 in Germantown
That's what my fed gov office does -- we don't close any more, everyone teleworks today. Even if we had a blizzard again with several days "closed" we still work. Good tradeoff with the WFH flexibility we get
Got a touch of frz drizzle coming down now
In our area of central MD we got a good 8-10 inch storm in January 2019, which is my last significant snow before this (missed 2022). North Balti's area must have missed out on that too. Hope they really get nailed this time
Eyeballing 3.5 and mod snow
Ha! That's my office building over there. We once had a Gonzaga grad who had a window office on that end that could see his old school's team at practice
