  1. We would take our late month warm-up like champs and get ready for February. This sub needed this week so badly
  2. That's what my fed gov office does -- we don't close any more, everyone teleworks today. Even if we had a blizzard again with several days "closed" we still work. Good tradeoff with the WFH flexibility we get Got a touch of frz drizzle coming down now
  3. Measured 4" near Germantown. Glad I left the deck lights up
  4. In our area of central MD we got a good 8-10 inch storm in January 2019, which is my last significant snow before this (missed 2022). North Balti's area must have missed out on that too. Hope they really get nailed this time Eyeballing 3.5 and mod snow
  5. That was a nice one! 2019 was the last time I had a significant (5" plus) snow. That's a long stretch. Lt snow and about 1.25" here
  6. Ha! That's my office building over there. We once had a Gonzaga grad who had a window office on that end that could see his old school's team at practice
  7. Very light snow started back up which doesn't show on radar; 25 degrees
  8. That's a nice snow there! It should stay on the ground with tonight's added. Snow on snow! Got about 1/3 of an inch of powder in Germantown
  9. Winding down now with a nice dusting on all but streets. On to Tuesday! Hoping for a nice forum-wide event
  10. Nice dusting in Germantown. We're going to Calvert in a little while so I checked temps and saw mid 40s in DC and S and E. Are those right?
  11. OT; I work with a guy that grew up just N of Buffalo. He told me once he drove to the southtowns and went from dry ground to over a foot and heavy snow in just a few miles. Did his errand and went back home to partly sunny and dry ground. That's bats!
  12. I left southern MD to be in the N&W burbs 30 years ago and it's paid off a number of times. Now nearing retirement we want a big yard (like yours) and my wife has been floating the idea of Calvert where much of my family is. Uh yikes? But snow is rare even here now so it might not really matter
  13. I haven't been paying attention and didn't know the deep south has WSWs up. Memphis is looking at up to 6 inches of cold smoke with temps in the teens and low 20s. Damn
  14. Darn no blizzard game now -- guess we settle for "Ice Bowl II" at Kansas City tonight. They found a window Monday afternoon where the snow stops then it snows again from later that night until......FRIDAY
  15. WOW I just looked at the Buffalo forecast and tomorrow's 1 pm game is going to be insane. I didn't know the stadium was south of the city which is in the better lake effect area. P&C has heavy snow with gusts to 45 during the day tomorrow with 16-28 inches total between tonight thru tomorrow night. Will they even play the game there?
  16. I'd be happy with a 2019 type winter which had one good 10-12 inch storm and few smaller events for a total of around 25" for me
  17. Just looked at that MD cam north of Hagerstown again and saw this. Ooof
  18. Moderate rain and 33, oh well. I do believe we'll have an area wide nice hit at some point this winter Check out this spot near the Hagerstown Airport
  19. The other day a national news show was talking about the small earthquake near Rockville and were calling it "southern Maryland" Still light snow in Germantown and a little coating on tables, etc
  20. Some light snow in Germantown which surprises me. 34 degrees
  21. They were saying on a news show that this year's calendar is a repeat of 1996 including being a leap year and it made me think back on how excited I was on January 5, 1996. We went to a house party the night of the 6th as it was getting going and had a fun drive back to my girlfriend's house (now wife). What a weekend and week of weather! I can't believe I have just about exactly doubled my age since then
  22. I wonder if there should be a NW/SE division for Frederick and Carroll Counties? (Sorry if there already are). There will be a big difference between say Urbana and Thurmont
  23. I forgot about that Jan. 2022 storm! It nailed Calvert where some of my family lives, whereas here in Germantown my last big snow was 2019. I'm hoping for luck with Saturday's system. In 1978 (in central PG County) we had a system predicted to be brief period of snow then all rain. We got a surprise three hour thump that gave us 5-6 inches, then drizzle
  24. My gosh look at that gradient over just the 23 miles between Damascus at the top of Mont Co and Silver Spring!
  25. Saw a few flakes on my walk just now. Hoppy New Years everyone! (Not a typo - got some Torpedo IPA chilling in the fridge )
