  1. That's a really impressive cell approaching downtown Macon.
  2. That tornado warned cell is one of the better signatures today...
  3. Cell east of Montgomery, AL is rapidly improving in BR and velocity appearance. Same cell SPC issued an MD on for strong tornado genesis.
  4. Dothan cell fell apart as it entered Dothan thankfully. Confirmed tornado with debris sig on Clarke and Washington Counties, AL tornado warning A lot of discrete structures firing across GA and AL
  5. Dothan cell maturing and intensifying as it heads into Dothan. Trying to get a consistent low level meso going.
  6. 2 isolated cells in the Panhandle and SE AL exhibiting broad rotation, along with defined superceullular structures. Edit: As I was posting, tornado warning issued for cell heading into Dothan, AL nice signature too.
  7. SPC issued an enhanced risk for tornadoes (which includes a 10% hatched) and for wind. As the shortwave trough moves across the lower Mississippi Valley on Sunday, a 75 to 90 kt mid-level jet will move across the Tennessee Valley. The southeastern edge of this feature will enhance ascent and aid strong deep-layer shear profiles. Due to this, a wind damage threat should develop within the squall-line by midday. At low-levels, a 40 to 60 kt jet is forecast to move eastward across south-central Alabama during the afternoon. Discrete supercells that form over the warm sector near and to the southwest of the low-level jet max will have favorable shear profiles for tornadoes. The number of tornadoes that develop will be dependent upon how many discrete cells form out ahead of the cold front. If a cluster of discrete cells can become scattered across the area with stronger instability, then there could be a small cluster of tornadoes. The greatest potential for tornadoes is currently forecast from just north of Mobile east-northeastward to the east of Columbus, Georgia. An enhanced has been added along this corridor where a potential for strong tornadoes will exist. In addition to tornadoes, wind damage and isolated large hail will also be possible with supercells. A wind damage threat should also be concentrated along the squall-line to the west. The squall-line should progress eastward across the southern Gulf Coast States and into Georgia during the late afternoon and early evening.
  8. Pretty intense and unexpected flooding for me in Pigeon Forge. Didn't expect much of anything today but ended up with 2.53" since 5 AM. Houses across the street got flooded by a creek that I have never seen get so high. Numerous areas around the county flooded, never had a FFW issued for some reason however. Creek is still flooding a majority of the property across the street and has only gone down a tad. Hopefully thunderstorms tonight won't be too bad.
  9. No snow on the ground here currently, however think the system overnight will provide 1-3" of snow county wide.
  10. A noon temp of 70 degrees and a dew point of 64 degrees. Could get into upper 70s maybe even 80 today before cold front moves through.
  11. A very nice and cool 66 degrees today, reached 50 degrees this morning. Fall is most certainly here!
  12. Nice and sunny out currently, though pretty hot. 86 degrees with a dew of 70 on my PWS for a heat index of 90 degrees. So much for fall.
  13. Category 1 or 3 at landfall, we got a death toll of 16 which is probably gonna rise and multiple FFEs ongoing. What the strength it came in at doesn't matter much currently. NHC did great and couldn't have handled it any better.
  14. Flash Flood Emergency for the city of Charlotte. Very strong wording with this one. * Flash Flood Warning for... Mecklenburg County in the Piedmont of North Carolina... * Until 730 PM EDT Sunday. * At 123 PM EDT, emergency management reported severe impacts from flash flooding in Mecklenburg County. Streams and creeks are running very high in South Charlotte, Matthews, and nearby areas. In some areas these bodies of water have risen to record stages and the extent of impacts may be unprecedented in some locations...flooding areas which have not flooded in recent memory. Up to three inches of rain have fallen since early morning, with an additional 2 to 4 inches likely to fall through tomorrow morning. Flash flooding will continue. This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for central and southeast Mecklenburg County. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!
  15. just nearly 300 people dying and surge reaching and obliterating miles of coastline in MS. quite the low end event if you ask me
  16. WSV3 has had a lot of issues since launch in December 2015 and still isn't really 100% functional. Satellite feature has been off for a majority of the year and not sure when it will return. I don't suggest buying WSV3. GRearth is a great alternative which is subscription based and has a 7 day free trial and uses Allison house. There's a program that carries free level 3 data that uses contour and layer based programming called Weatherscope. There's a radarscope browser based program on Stormtrack.org which carries level 2 and level 3 data and is free. There's GRlevel2 which carries level 2 data and Grlevel3 which carries level 3 data, but is on a 21 day free trial Weather Scope- https://www.mesonet.org/index.php/weather/weatherscope Storm Track/Radarscope- https://stormtrack.org/radarscope/ Grlevel 2 and 3- http://www.grlevelx.com/
  17. Started off pretty sunny this morning but has gotten cloudy over the afternoon. 18z HRRR run had us getting about .25-.75" of rain tomorrow. Nothing major, haven't gotten some good rain in about a week.
  18. Flash Flood Emergency for most of the area covering the training band, including Jacksonville. Pretty strong wording * At 1029 PM EDT, emergency management reported extremely heavy rain across the warned area associated with a nearly stationary rain band from Tropical Storm Florence. Since yesterday 10 to 18 inches have fallen across the area. Life threatening flash flooding is occurring with numerous impassable due to high water. It is imperative that residents remain off the roads, and only venture outside if there is a threat to your well being. Additional rainfall amounts of 5 to 10 inches are possible tonight across the warned area. This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for portions of Jones, Lenoir, Onslow, and Duplin counties. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!
