  1. The primary complaints have been with how they manage prospects, though...not sure why a good veteran free agent would see that and say "nah". I mean if we actually spend the money...I think they'll come. And actually, this team likes giving it's veterans playing time and we complain about starting them over the young players, lol As for CF is a little more tricky...Cowser is out with a concussion and I'd imagine even if Beavers were up he'd probably be playing in right.
  2. I'm sure you'd love that, lol Kickers just seem to have stronger legs now, and 60 is slowly becoming the new 50!
  3. I don't know if a rookie manages to break that...maybe? Lol They been doing this crap all year! All early hit then quiet...the whole hitting philosophy needs to be overhauled. I hope this ain't an Elias issue...he oughta let the new manager pick his staff.
  4. Well...Beavers certainly wouldn't help this sorry performance, lol
  5. I understand how it would sound that way, lol But I think that's just because of my back and forth between @Chris78 about whether the new owners are responsible for this current mess and I happen to blame Elias much more than them, lol (though their blame meter is gonna go up next year if it doesn't get better). And on this issue I just happen not to care as much if they up now or in two weeks. But trust me...I call it like I see it good or bad.
  6. 2023 is puzzling given all the energy and excitement around the team that year...was it ticket prices then or something else, I wonder?
  7. Ticket prices aren't raised until next year...and by that time Beavers and Basallo will be up so you can pay to see them then Current fam experience? I don't think the product being slightly less entertaining (I mean it's already a lost season) for a couple weeks is gonna make much of a difference in the long run--this is just a now, now, now thing. Once they're up I don't think anybody next year is still gonna be scowling about them waiting two weeks. We'll just be enjoying them being up here. And maybe I'm just wired differently, but...in a lost season, why not just turn it off and go do something else if you're not entertained? That's what I do
  8. Who cares about a "look"? Winning is gonna ultimately be what puts people back in the seats. This is a temporary decision that won't even matter in a year when Basallo and Beavers are hopefully tearing it up up here. Sure it would be entertaining, but as far as the long term? Now or two weeks from now makes no difference whatsoever other than the game being a little less entertaining. If that's the case...why not just don't go to/watch the game and do something else? Lol
  9. Hm...well then there's the other part of bringing up your best prospect and having them sit on and off the bench just to avoid the 130 mark. Teams may prefer more consistent playing time for the best ones? Just speculating
  10. August 15th deadline for ROY next year, lol I have long since accepted this is how the league does things with the best prospects this close to that.
  11. Oy...What is the big deal? Are fans just impatient to see the new toys because we wanna see a spark or what? We're talking a week and a half here...This is no different than when Gunnar was called up. And this sealone is done...so what's the difference?
  12. If can stay like this for tomorrow morning/afternoon this'll be perfect...the reenactment I'm doing fell on the perfect week!
  13. I don't remember seeing showers moving backwards twice in the same week...seeing a cluster move east to west on radar is weird, lol
  14. What causes something to back to the west?
  15. @Chris78 Here is an article from December that explains exactly what I mean: owners gave him more money to spend ($70M more, in fact)...but he seems to have a different philosophy: https://www.si.com/mlb/orioles/news/report-orioles-gm-mike-elias-unwilling-spend-against-owner-direction
  16. I'm right here not to tell ya that he's great but to tell ya you're blaming the wrong person this time. That's where we disagree. Elias, Elias, Elias! All this is his baby (Cal said a couple weeks ago that "[Elias is the architect"] His philosophy in FA is what got us here. Now...if they don't fire Elias this off-season and he screws stuff up even more...THEN that'll be on ownership--because they have the opportunity to start completely fresh now. New manager, new GM!
  17. I still trust nothing coming out of a Ravens 2nd round. Too much bad luck, lol So far only O-Lineman seem to work out once a decade! He would be the first defensive player...
  18. I think that dude is either in denial and just says "la la la can't hear you", or is just doing that to troll...been the habit pretty much since this tough stretch began. All we have to go is what's happened the last 9 (and likely 10) years. The reality is just what you stated. Now whether or not we get out of the PDO cycle and we can put together a better 10-year stretch remains to be seen...but at least for now this is where we at.
  19. My goodness that cycle lasted for 30 years?? So "decadal" isn't so much a literal decade but just however many decades it lasts? (I'm sure you would've loved it back then...lol Although the 60s were snowy for the east)
  20. Time for a new approach this winter: If any model run shows something that hasn't happened in 10 years...ignore it
  21. Hey at least we could check out early and just ignore this altogether till next hear, lol But oy...it amazes me how the snow completely fell off after Jan 16. I had been under the impression that change in climo was more gradual...but it's like somebody flipped a switch in 16, and the clippers disappeared and so did some of our ways of getting snow. I get changing climo but I don't understand why it happened so fast. I wish someone would study what exactly happened that year and why every year since has done, well....what we've seen.
  22. When did it bite them in the butt? And does 2-3 weeks really make that big of a difference?
  23. Isn't the whole preserving rookie eligibility for higher prospects a common practice in the league in general, though? (Hence why "September callups" became a thing?) Why are some of you acting like everybody doesn't do the same thing come August? Lol Teams always wanna preserve that.
  24. I hope the gfs is right. I'll be reenacting something outside on grass next Saturday...
  25. And out goes Charlie...to the Detroit Tigers!
