  1. So sorry dude...I know the feeling (minus the traveling that is)
  2. Sounds like it's trying to Baltimore 2017 eclipse it, lol (Except that was worse with a random thunderstorm)
  3. Well, I had the misfortune of driving during the one in 2011, so I unfortunately missed it (still kinda annoyed at that, lol), but I'll take this as a consolation prize if I don't experience another! Although I kinda want to...but just not too bad just harmless shaking
  4. Hahaha Now see I was trying to word it very carefully with all innuendo in mind, but alas there was literally no other way to describe it to the gutter brains among us
  5. I thought I felt something! I was lying facedown on my bed and thought I felt something pulsate about 2-3 times (could feel it in the springs).
  6. HAIL! HAIL! In the city...HAIL (pea-sized)
  7. It was literally a year and 3 days before the Key Bridge collapse. It's kind of eerie that it was 6 fatalities each time, and each time they were all Hispanic, smh
  8. Yes indeed. THAT was true, cream-of-the-cdop ace stuff right there! Man he was getting those "Wha? Huh? Oh..." swings, lol Rubenstein being formally introduced, Burnes twirls a gem, the offense explodes, 11-3 W. Couldn't ask for a more special Opening Day
  9. How's it looking for that?
  10. I still cannot believe how it just appeared to fold like it was made out of cardboard. Man... I feel like it's only just sinking in what's happened. You have those that are presumed deceased (Again, praying for those families: it's chilling to see the trucks they were in go sliding down like that...mercy). But then, you have the transportation and economic ripple effects that will be felt for months or even years to come! The city certainly has a long road ahead...but prayerfully something good comes out of this tragedy and we come back better and stronger!
  11. And speaking of Palm Sunday...a Baltimore history page on FB shared these pictures yesterday: The Palm Sunday storm of 1942! A great shot of it still snowing At the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Baltimore City) c. 3/29/1942:
  12. Thank you, @uncletim, @snownut ,and the rest of you for your input! At a little over an hour and a half away, Liberty is definitely is a doable drive for me, so that one will definitely on the short list This is the first year I'm actually giving legit consideration to the idea!

  14. When people say "Google is your friend" I find it to be a bit condescending, like somebody saying you were too dumb to look into something. But maybe I'm making too much of it (probably, lol) In this hobby/obsession, I find that sometimes I'm not even sure exactly what TO Google to find something. If it were a general guide that said "For this, try these sites. For that, try those sites", it may help. Finding a temperature for a particular day, or what the snow totals were for a particular year is easy enough...but beyond that it's less clear where to go for stuff. For example, where do I find charts that are easy to see the trend of temperatures for a particular month? For a specific thing like that I wouldn't know where to start.
  15. Not sure I want it to be simple...but just to make some kind of sense! I'm still not 100% past irony of the whole warmer planet but cooler ENSO thing, but at least when you mention trade wind things makes that make more sense to this layman (wind blowing on water making it cooler=something that makes sense) But to your point about the transient cold shots being common...so you're in the thinking that it's not happening more than it used to, but it just feels that way?
  16. This is the part of this new...whatever it is I don't get: Why is it that these late freezes have become more prevalent while the winters have been warmer? Although I think @psuhoffman said the Springs aren't getting cooler by the numbers...but why then are we seeing this more? Like...shouldn't a warmer background mean this doesn't happen as much? Make it make sense, lol
  17. I have never been skiing...I'm not sure I've ever been in any kind of elevation at all, actually. So I'd be a complete novice! I am not at all athletic, and balance is a bit questionable...but it's something I'd be willing to dip my toe in (although given the prices mentioned here...a trip out west ain't happening any time soon, lol)
  18. IF (barring any major surprise) it turns out to be as bad as it appears to be, doesn't need but one word: BYE! followed by a George Jefferson-style door slam...
  19. So, you gonna bother with the essay analysis next winter if things suck as expected?
  20. Alright WW be honest...is this a "Don't quit until the final out" mentality except for snow? That's the only thing that makes sense...so...why? (You're not gonna answer this are you? Lol)
  21. If I had a lot of money I'd by a house out in those mountains of California and just park there during niños, lol
  22. So am I. I laid out in the snow for a good 10 mins just appreciating having even that much snow to lie in (in fact, I wish I'd stayed out there longer!). It may be little while before we that again. And overall...we need to be thankful for what most of us (except for maybe a couple posters) experienced between 2009-2016. Epic stuff!
  23. This will be the first winter where I actually feel done. Maybe as we get closer I'll change my mind, but I feel done. I mean for me, over the last 9 years we've already seen everything. What else is there to see? The only thing that made this winter worth tracking was that we did not know what a legit niño would look like under whatever regime this is. Optimism was warranted because, well...we literally did not know what things would look like. It just didn't work out! But now? Feel like we've seen absolutely everything, and until we get a positive surprise, it just feels like it's not worth watching--especially in a nina (except for @CAPE's yard of course ) I'm tired of pattern chasing only for it to result in long (but knowledgeable) posts about how stuff doesn't work anymore, we suck, etc...it's like, why watch when you already know the answer? I'm tired of watching all manner of climate things destructively interfere with our snow climo. Now if/when the PDO flips that would be something we haven't seen during this stretch, so maybe you watch and see if that helps, who knows? It may or may not...but worth watching in case it does. Until then? Eh. I mean if you are in just for the science, I get it--to each their own. But otherwise? Not much to see, imo
