  2. I think we covered all of this. Asking for precise and accurate explanations for the size and direction of the NCEI corrections is your prerogative, but then you open the door to the exact same questions about the siting and operation of these stations. Where exactly were these stations in relations to surrounding trees, building, steel mills? Where the shelters done correctly? Where the thermometers calibrated properly? And so on. If you ask others to provide exhaustive facts that the adjustments are correct, then you must also respond to the question--was the data perfect to start with?
  3. none of your little indicies are going to stop the displaced pac vortex from flooding the country with marine air all winter
  4. 1997 actually isn't that bad of a QBO analog upon closer look...not great, but not bad...def. awful for solar, though. I think I will include it on the QBO composite given how strong of an ENSO match it is....solar is prohibitive of its' inclusion of a polar analog, though.

  6. I know I've been saying this but Gem has been leading the way. Come December I can only assume this El Nino will be off the charts way more than it is now.
  7. Reliance peach is hardy to zone 5 and several friends here in the foothills grow them successfully. Unfortunately, our rad pit microclimate is 4B; median for winter's coldest is -24. We planted a Reliance soon after moving here in May 1998. It would grow strongly then die back for 3 years, then 2001-02 never got colder than -12, avoiding the dieback. That summer we had 100+ sweet peaches, then 2002-03 had a dozen mornings at -20 to -29. The tree had died back to the ground then weakly sprouted from below the graft. It died in August. Tut fini.
  8. Ya…some years/Octobers are warmer than others…obviously. But my point was more like what Brian and Dave mentioned…. Shoulder seasons so to speak..transition time. One season is waiting and another is taking over, and there are variations due to the conflict.
  9. You left out December 72 and 97 two strong ninos.which were above normal but noting drastic like 82 and 15
  10. WB latest EURO weekly extended 30 day thru 11/27. Wet with normal temps.
  11. Shoulder seasons... wavelengths... yada yada yada.
  12. Anybody able to see the space x launch this morning .
  13. Plant trees that are appropriate for your climate.
  14. Unseasonably warm weather continues for much of the rest of the work week before we turn unseasonably chilly for the weekend before we rebound to normal to above next week. A couple chances of a shower or two both Wednesday and Thursday night with the better shot on Thursday.

  16. Nice leaf stripper Saturday . Let’s get most of these leaves down and hopefully even a few trees / outages
  17. It's kind of like March-alot of everything and often windy.
  18. Today
  19. And most of that EURO rain in NC comes from the front on Friday which is a serious outlier in modeling. So there is a good chance it ends up like the rain-less GFS
  20. But isn’t that exactly what October features most years? I mean, who expects upper 40’s for highs for days and days in October? Nobody does. This is October at its best…mild to warm some days, cool and crisp some days. Good Rainy days/systems too. And even a good cold shot to boot. We take. We enjoy October.
  21. Once past the 2 day weekend chill down, ridging builds east, some onshore component but shoudl see a few warm days on the 1019 - 10/30 period:

  23. false statement the true drivers of increased energy and electricity costs are increasing costs to maintain and expand an aging grid, the increasing price for fossil fuels, the increase in energy demand, and a general utility regulatory structure that prioritizes investment in massive power plants that have long capital pay-back periods and let's not forget about the abysmally expensive energy policy choices implemented by the current administration
